My 03 300A is making a cracking, snapping noise. This only happens first thing in the morning. After starting it up, for the first 4 or 5 blocks, the front passenger side wheel ( I believe) makes a loud on and off cracking noise. It then goes away. Its definitely coming from the passenger side, Im 90% sure it is the front tire. Anyone else have this problem?

Is the car wet with dew or rain when it happens??
I discovered that water from the windshield runs directly onto the stock catalytic converter on the passenger's side!!:argue: It makes a popping and rattling noise!!
Try squirting a water hose on the lower side of the windshield on the passenger's side after you shut her down from a drive......it will make this noise I describe......see if that is what you may be hearing??
Mine also did it with the A/C on in left turns.....drove me nuts until I discovered it was condensate running onto the stock converters!!:shake:
Good Luck finding it!!

Eric I bet its not your ball joints, its probably your hood, try raising your hood adjusters, its a notorius problem with MM's it drove me crazy! The way I figured it out was I would push down on the front fender and it would squeek and one time I tried pushing down with the hood up, and no noise, and that's how I figured it out, lol

Interesting - I love little quirks
Like the little holes I put in my ball...joints to grease them

A Little Silicon On The Hood Height Adjusters Will Take The Squeak Away When Going Over Bumps Or When Shutting The Door!!! Crazy

bigbillybbs,
Yes, it is a on and off loud ticking noise I guess. But the strange thing is its only for a couple of blocks when I first get going in the morning and then its gone for the day. Im lost on this one. I've had numerous Grand Marquis, so Im pretty familiar with the sound of bad tie rods and ball joints on these types of cars, this is different. Although I understand this car is not a GM.

I installed a addco sway bar and the poly bushings squeak over bumps. I just recently took it apart and applied a lot of white grease. So far so good. The hood is a different story! Even with the grease, I can hear a slight squeak out of it.

Do your parents yell upstairs and tell you to stop playing with yourself?:P:shake:
I am still trying to find the location of my suspension noise. I am going to look at the tranny cross mount next.

I would look at the body mount cushions first.
You may be missing one or have an extra one mounted somewhere...

I have allready tightened my body mounts(might have missed two by the front footwell) and tightened the rear track bars. I have not looked to close at the cushion build up.
I am hoping that the body mount cushions do not have a sleeve that is rubbing on the body or frame because that sounds like work to fix.

Now this is obnoxious! Every six months i'm readjusting, that squeak over small bumps at slow speeds and every time i shut the door sounds like an old beater. A good fix also is staying at near death speeds.

I installed some 3m tape on my hood were it contacts the stops and I put some loctite on the threads of the stop.
No squeak noise for two years.

I have a similar problem, but it sounds as though the noise I am hearing is coming from under the dash, passenger side, and it only seems to make a "window" cracking noise for a few minutes if I seem to hit an awkward part on the highway.
Possibly the same noise?
