When I got my Flowmasters installed five years ago, the stupid muffler guy insisted I'd like "something else" better, and put quieter mufflers on after I left, despite my specific instructions to put the Flowmasters on (and, this was a "performance shop" that I actually read about in MM&FF). So, when I came back and saw the "wrong" mufflers on the car, he said, "No problem." He then took a Sawzall and chopped off a huge chunk of the part of the stock Marauder exhaust pipe that goes over the rear end, and then put the Flowmasters I originally requested in. I have no idea why I didn't resolve this issue with the shop owner back then. Anyway, this is the part I want to replace. Expensive? Options? Do any of the exhaust kits sold for our cars include this part?

This part is not cheap or easy to replace. It will take a good exhaust shop with a mandrel bender several hours. This can also be fabricated using mandrel bent elbows, or possibly with compression bends (NOT recommended). If you order an aftermarket setup, there will likely be issues getting it to align on one end or the other and fabrication will be required to correct. I'd recommend trying the simplest solution, which [in my opinion] is to just adapt to the area where he cut.

The stock pipes are compression bent -- so putting compression bent back on the car is not going to hurt it. Mandrel bent is better, but our stock mid pipe is 2" AND pinch bent, so....

Understood, though I'm not recommended it, especially if one is going to be paying to get that pipe fabricated anyway. Also, our stock pipes were done at the "factory" and the bends are decent. Most shops with a compression bender will not make bends that clean.

You should see some of the pinch bends I have taken off my own cars from previous owner's exhaust shop work. I just cut and weld my own stuff now from box-o-bends that I accumulate as I take stuff apart.

I had side pipes put on for about ehh 3-4wks before the drone drove me crazy. The exhaust shop put on new CVPI rear exhaust pipe sections. I think it was maybe $300-350 putting the stuff back on.

You have CVPI tiny pipes on a Marauder? Aren't the CVPI outlets, at the tips, like a 1 7/8" pipe? They are miniscule. Don't ever dump an exhaust in front of the axle on a street car. It will be louder inside the car than out, and not in a good way. Also as a car ages and the weather seals degrade, you will start to get carbon monoxide in the car. Not good, or legal.

Good idea! It's cut about two inches into the curve, going over the axle. I'll just have a GOOD shop weld the most appropriate adapter/pipe up to that point. I'm so pissed at these guys.

Yeah, I'd be pissed too. Good luck!

Can you get Walker/Maremont replacement tails for the MM? They won't be bent as well as stock but they will be cheap and they will fit. Then you can just buy two stainless band clamps and use them to join the pipes. Just cut to fit and clamp. No welding required. I bet someone on this board still has their old stock tail pipes that you could use as donors, w/ band clamps.

I'm guess their CVPI pipes but their not tiny, same size piping as the stock H-pipe. Either way my car still gets up and moves. Can't tell me not to now cause I already did it lol. Maybe I should put them back on and drive back and forth past your house late at night lol j/k. They were pretty loud and with highway cruising I had a headache every day but was still pretty sweet, just wish I had a camera back then or someone had recorded me.

If you really want to drive out to middle of nowhere MD and go blubblubblubblub past my house, that is your perogative. I wil, in response, drive my lawn tractor with the custom exhaust I just made the other day, past your house

It is the most horrible sounding loud engine sound ever. I have a removable muffler on the end. 1.25" tubing coming off a briggs and stratton is LOUD
