Now stand back!! I really like the car. However it is "just" a car:)
I had one in 1970 (X-100) Sold that when I got in to cross country tour bus:burnout:
It should not be the end of the world when one goes up for sale.
Some of these (I am selling my marauder) threads would make a good TV movie of the week:rofl:
Bottom line you do what you must to keep on going.
You can move yourself into a new set of wheel and still hang out here:cool:

At the rate we use salt on the roads here in Buffalo winters, mine will be a pile of rust long before I am ready to give it up.
Anybody know where I can give it an Epoxy Bath ???

I can understand those selling their Marauders if they are driven daily with the increasing fuel costs, or if other financial matters have taken priority.
As for me, I have no intention on selling my Marauder. She's everything I want in a weekend toy and car show queen.

Steve you also like her to haul around the Cheerleaders you bring to the car shows! :D

I definitely won't sell it. I bought it for lots of reasons : power, design, classic american technology... These reasons did not change.

I don't know about never selling mine, but I'm not selling it because of the gas price scare at least. I already have 2 other V8 cars, other than the MM, that I wrench on and spend tons of $$ and never drive, so what's one more V8 car in the garages. I have 4 cars worth of indoor garage parking now so letting it sit a lot of the time isn't going to hurt anything, whilst I drive around in my 4 cylinder automobubble.
The temptation to get another Acura TL would be the only thing the Marauder has to worry about.

Until we no longer need 2 daily drivers, we will have 2 MMs and the Vette.
I might add that my DDs take at least 2nd place every year in car show that usually has at least 15-20 MMs, many of which are Garage Queens. Takes some work, but wifey and I are wedded to each other and our MMs for life.

We decided to keep our Marauder. Yes, the increasing gas prices are a problem but the car just drives to well and is a very comfortable ride. I can't give all that up for a Ricer!

Well, Im on the other side of the wall. I have wanted to buy a MM since I was suprised with the opportunity to drive one in a parade in 2005. I have been watching MM values all aoong and they finally hit the level where I can afford to buy one.
I found one here in California that is exactly what I wanted, so I have to sell my 68 Mustang California Special to get the MM. (Both to have some of the money for the purchase and to limit the number of projects and keep the wife happy.)
The Mustang is just about sold so hopefully, by the end of July, I will have a MM. This site is a great source of information and I developed my opinion on what I wanted based on what I have read here.
Thanks for the info and I will be around for a long time!:banana2:

Wooo, a cali' special managed to see one of those and a few highland specials at Carlisle. Beautiful cars, I'd sell some other project if it were me, but hey you've probably put more thought in it or have a really kick ass collection and the Cali' Special is the runt of the bunch.
Good to see another soon to be MM owner aboard though, and remember to bring a camera when you pick it up. You'll want to remember that moment, and have something to show at shows and to your progeny.

I plan to keep my Marauder so long that I'll most likely have to do a frame off restoration 30 years down the road. I try to keep the car off the road in the rain and bad weather and its always under a cover in my garage so Im hoping it will be very well perserved and stay together.
This is why Im happy to have a daily driver!

Well contrary to my previous post looks like I won't be getting a Marauder, yet. looks like the dealer is jerking us around. We have only had the Mariner for 3 months and the dealer is worried about $$$. They should be glad to have someone trade an economical SUV for a large gas hungry sedan.
Oh well I will still keep my eye out for one.

Mercurys never retain value like other classic cars, except for maybe the rare oddity.

The Marauder is the best car Ford ever let Mercury sell. And I think the best full size 4-door car Ford ever built. I get good highway MPG and great performance. The Marauder is a nice balance of everything I like about American Cars.

Mine isn't going anywhere. I'll be looking in the next month for a gas sipping honda, not cause of the prices but something that is just cheap all around and I can put a lot of miles on. Less miles on the MM and more cash in my pockets to go towards the mod fund.

I'LL NEVER SELL HER as long as I can drive. There is nothing out there that I could enjoy more.
