My car is a freak of nature. She laid down 445rwhp and 408rwtq today. Couldn't believe it. It's a monster now. And that's with NOIC. Tune is very safe too! Mid 11's for an AF.

Thanks Sean, a part of me wants to now...

I thought you were selling it?

It is, but I need a dyno tune to make it entirely safe, it just had a base DR tune. I wanted full potential.

Welcome to the world of boost. Where did you get your dyno and tune done?

It's been boosted for the past 2 weeks, just hadn't gotten a tune done. Outlaw Dyno.

Be careful when the ambient rises and you keep it WOT, or BOOM!

I was under the impression that if the ambient temp rises the HP would go down do to heat soak. That's the reason we don't seriously race in the summer, down here.

As for alternative IAT tracking, it can be done using the Xcal 2 via live link.

I bet the tuner has a non-loading dyno and stuffed a crapload of timing at it for 'The Glory Pull' and made numbers like that.

...just keepin it real

Raudermaster

FYI, the timing was left STOCK. It was right at 14-15. 3 pulls were made, the first pull he really didn't tweak it much, it threw down 420ish or so. Then the last two were tampered with.

Timing on a stock Marauder is like 19
With a tune its 24!

Those are some serious #'s and I applaud them, just never heard of a NOIC kit making that much

My Blue made 449/410 with an intercooler and 16 degrees.
Any more timing and it will ping.

It will quickly go from a ping to a boom. Point is it was tuned w/ ambient @73*.

When it's over 73* I would closely monitor the IAT.

I have seen cars, not mine, that were tuned in the early spring and run great until summer and start pinging.

Tags are used to help search for topics by keyword. They would be helpful if they weren't abused. That didn't take long. How about we try to use the Tags to help ourselves navigate the website instead of a silly toy.

But....

A NOIC Kit, 9#'s of Boost, Cobra Exhaust....

I am guessing your Tuner bumped the Timing for a hail mary pull, then bumped it back down to a safe level. I would DEFINATELY watch for pinging once the temps get above 85-90.

Either way....

I watched him the whole time. He made the first pull, it hit 424 at about 17 or 18 degrees of timing, and he backed it off down to 14 from there. The 2nd pull was about 435 or so, hopped back to the computer and fiddled some more, then made the last pull.

Yup, some big, fantastic things have come out of there. Doug is a real stand up guy and tells it like it is and is a straight shooter. He was really shocked when I said it should make 400rwhp, and he got 445 out of it. He said it's ridiculous when people come in expecting it to throw down 450hp, and it only can make 350.

Raudermaster
07-09-2008, 08:59 PM
And also, the one thing that Doug is great about, if it's not safe, or wouldn't be safe in real world conditions, he wouldn't let the vehicle leave until it was and was perfect.

Eric-Blk2004
07-10-2008, 07:44 AM
I had good experiences over in DEZ tuning and the guy said the samething about Outlaw dyno. Good shops all around.

And who cares if he pushed the timing and the put it back to be safe. He wanted to see how much the motor can make safely under ideal conditions and then he bumps it back from that to make sure its 100% safe. Its not a problem if he tells what he is doing, its only misleading to the people who do not ask.

When I did my pull he got to the hp in my sig and then he added a little love in terms of fuel/timing on the top end to ensure that nothing would pop if it got hot etc. Now I can drive it however I want and be totally satisfied.

If you want the max then be ready to pay when you go over the edge.

Raudermaster
07-10-2008, 08:48 AM
Exactly what you said, he told me exactly what he was doing, added some more fuel at the top and retarded the timing a bit to make it safer and it stayed safely at 445 and he left it as is since it is safe.

Dynos are just numbers its how the car feels and how it performs. I am happy with my car because the stumble is gone and it moves on the highway.

Its a 4500lb car I dont care what the numbers are it will get run by most things on the track with comparable modifications.

That assuming you want to ignore the cost of getting the numbers verus the cost on getting the numbers else. Either way your splitting hairs and people do what they want so yea.
