View Full Version : Mufflers or Tips (or both)
Buying Seans Magnaflows. My desire is to have an assertive though not obnoxiously loud exhaust. Don't want people to hear me coming, but take notice with the quality rumble. My first thought is to try and achieve that with just a muffler change. If not satisfied, then add the delete tips.
Do you think that just the muffler change would get to my goal?
Would y'all recommend the Megs Deletes or another type or brand?
Realizing this is all subjective....

My experience (and I have quite a bit) is that just putting the 18" Magnaflows on and leaving all else stock will result it the exhaust being much deeper and seemingly quieter than the OEM system!!
If you go with only two "Hi-Flow" cats and keep your H-Pipe the difference will be astonishing!! GREAT "Rumble" and little or no drone!! Go with delete tips for more noise but also a bit more drone!!
Do it a step at a time and quit when YOU are happy!!:D

PS: I have some sound clips of mine if you would like to hear them.......email me and I will email them back to you!! If anyone here can host them I can send them to you to post here.......let me know??

I put Super 44's on and love the sound. I'm now ready for a little more rumble though and am awaiting a Megs delete group buy.

MJ, My understanding is that each exhaust line has two catalytic converters. The only one needed is the first in line from the exhaust. Is it ok to lose the last one in line? And I take it you are saying that will make a difference? I'm certainly open to losing any cats I don't need for proper operation. I'm not that green, so my conscience won't bother me. Besides. I understand people are stealing catalytic converters off cars aroiund here.
Also, if you have sound clips, you can e-mail them to me at hholt@md.metrocast.net.
I appreciate any thoughts...
Delete the 2nd set of cats. You WILL hear a difference.

If the Magnaflows are new, they will be VERY quiet for the first couple weeks until they "break in" a little with daily driving.

for sound clip of 14 inch Magnaflows on stock exhaust at WOT. Sorry it is so short.
I can come in late without waking the neighbors. Sounds like Mario Andretti when I floor it. It's a good compromise for me right now.

Thanks Jack... I did get the clips... sounds good. Is your setup second cat delete with h-pipe intact followed by Magnaflow terminating in stock Megs tips?
Appreciate the clip also ckadiddle...

What kind of difference, Doom? Since we both have Trils, I'd love to know how the 2nd cat delete sounds on an otherwise stock exhaust s/c MM.
I love how quiet it is just tooling around, so if it adversely makes idling louder, I'm not in for that.
