Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the following Air Bag code:

35 Low Resistance Across Pins 8 and 9 at Diagnostic Monitor

I was at the dealership this week and they said this is an error that is not covered under Warranty. They said it was a either a grounded out wire, a shorted wire, or something in the wiring harness. He stated the 5/50 warranty on airbags only covers the airbag deploying and faulty airbag units.

He said that the code has a flow chart that takes up to 5 hours to troubleshoot and I am looking at 500 dollars in terms of diagnostics. Needless to say I told him to stop work and I would take the car.

I read on the forums about loose connections under seats and stuff like that and look for any but did not see any.

Needless to say I am in a rock and a hard spot - any advice for me? Or should I just take the car to the dealership and hand over gas money for the next month.:(

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I found this via google - any Ford experts or users attest to how accurate this is? And how long it would take to check?

Here is the article:

It's kind of wierd, but my factory Ford dvd manual does not show code 35 (the LFC column = Lamp Fault Code). Were you able to check the pcm for codes?
The pages of the manual are in this attachment:

No code 35 here either for this car. Pins 8&9 at the Restraint Control Module are not related. The info you found is incorrect for the Panther chassis. Where did you get that code info? You need to find a competent dealership and take it there first.

Best luck,

JMan

Sorry guys its code 53. I just rechecked again. It flashes 5 then a shorter pause then 3 then a very long pause.

The seatbelt light is red and on even when I buckle up. The alarm flashes 3 to 6 times while driving and eventually shuts up. Whats the deal with that?

Any input would be greatly appericated!

 I thought Delta (safety) items were covered up to 100k?

Mike.

He said that the warranty only covers mechanical problems - faulty units etc. This is an electrical issues and hence is not covered. He said it would take up to 5 hours of troubleshooting to ID the problem, and then the costs to repair it.

This is basically going to break my bank for the next month I was hoping not to dip into my savings during this lovely economy being that I work in the financial market and well you know how that goes.

I edited the title of this thread to show '53' error code for accuracy and future reference. ;)

Carry on...
