View Full Version : Are Oil Filters Getting Scarce?
The reason I'm asking is for the past 3 weeks now, Walmart has restocked their shelves with all kinds except the FL -820S.

Why buy from Walmart, buy North American.

I just go to the local auto parts store and get Puraltor PureONE or Motorcraft filters.

I get free oil changes from my dealer, (part of my warrantee) last week when i got an oil change, I told them remember to go to Ford and get a filter for my car, they said sure, when I looked it was an AC Delco, now I'm pi$$ed. This is a Chevrolet dealer, that I bought my MM from, but this man owns 21 brands of cars, and his ford dealer is right across the street.

trash, don't let the ACDelco filter bother you. ACD filters are made either in-house or sourced from Champion Laboratories (no relation to the spark plug people), who also make the OEM filters Ford installs at the factory. ACD filters have an excellent reputation, so there's no need to change it out early unless you're hopelessly A/R. :D

rkk, it it REALLY worth parking a quarter-mile from the front door, walking another quarter-mile to the far end of the store and back again, and then waiting 15 minutes at one of the 3 (out of 21) open registers just to save A DOLLAR?
FL820S at Wally's - $3.48
FL820S at AutoZone - $4.49
Getting in and out in 5 minutes flat - Priceless.

Or you could not even leave the house and have the filters come to you--

From Tasca Ford in Rhode Island to me in NY works out to $5.21 a filter, and I don't use any gas or waste my time to get them.
I know a case seems like alot of filters, but I need them for three cars. 2 GM's and 1 Escape.

That's a great price. I just recently got a case. When I need more I'll check with you and hope they're on special again.

Didn't think AutoZone's around my neck of the woods sold MotorCraft filters, but I have time, next oil change is not due until October.
Thx.

My local WalMart is always low on FL-820S filters and they are ALWAYS out of stock on Motorcraft 5W-20 Semi-synthetic.
If they ever have the shelf full of 5 quart containers of 5W-20 Motorcraft I will play the Lottery that day!

I have 2 Motorcraft 5W20 semi-synth, 5 quart jugs in the garage waiting to get used on upcoming oil changes to my vehicles. bought them at Wally world when they had them. the store near me is pretty good about inventory.

Look on the bright side - you're not buying the Motorcraft filters north of the border. Try almost doubling that price! Everytime I head south, I purchase a handful of FL-820S filters (Marauder, Lightning and Escape), along with fuel filters, etc, which are all much cheaper than at home.

The Walmarts by me always seem to have the Motorcraft 5W20 in 5 quart jug, so when I change my fathers oil ('06 GM) I always have to buy another quart
Now the Motorcraft 5W30 for my car on the other hand they usually don't have too many on hand, and only in 1 quart jug.
