The time has come for my DTR to take a rest. She has been my daily driver four 4 yrs, 5 days and accumulated 63k miles. She will be now enjoy weekend, nice weather only duty. Due to my mother falling ill recently I have had to make numerous trips to Rochester, NY on the T-Way. The price of 93 here is geting worse by the day and I was looking at $70 everytime I make the trip for fuel. I just agreed to buy this:

before you laugh, I'll have a new car, warranty, cheap insurance and best of all, one heck of a lot cheaper to operate. and ITS SCREAMING YELLOW! Gotta love it. :D

Whatever it takes to hold on to the Marauder is worth driving. Hope your mother pulls through.

1.6 liters ain't an engine. It's a drink size.

Understand the situation Ray. I bet you'll be looking forward to those weekends with the MM.

Ain't nothing wrong with that!

I've been able to keep Smoke in her stable for the better part of the year since I got her...very fortunate and I always look forward to a drive...

My DD is a nice, new Murano I got last fall - wish I had my crystal ball with me then - I would totally appreciate a Sentra right now...

My sis just picked one up a month ago and made sure I saw on the dash display how she is getting 38 - 40 MPG on the damn thing!

The DTR will enjoy semi-retirement...sorry to hear about your mother. Hope all goes well on that end...:(

Not to bring up a sore subject - but now you REALLY gotta keep an eye out for the "Horned Forest Rats" in the Chebby!

Thanks for the wishes and prayers for Mom. Looks like she will be ok, but she had to go into a nursing home. Tough call when shes always been independant. She didn't fight us much on it. She went home from the hospital two weeks ago and less than 48hrs later almost killed herself with a accidental prescription drug overdose. I'm headed out there again in the morning and then Sunday too. $140 in gas :shake: alone.

Won't actually have the Aveo until probably Monday or Tuesday. Buying it from a small, local, much trusted dealership. My 1st GM product. I was surprised at how well it handled. It rides much larger than its size. AND a new car for $10.3k? This was a no brainer once I drove it. Heck, my messed up back even liked the seat. :D

Uhm, almost hit another one on the same road coming back from SC... That one ran in front of me, two more standing in road at different places, counted 5 standing next to the road. All in a 45 mile stretch of highway. I gotta find another way to get to I81. I really can not think of a dumber more worthless animal...

People may question your sexuality.

I don't think something like that would move with my 275lb ass in it.

I can't wait to hear the news that your mom is doing better and I can't wait to hear that your Marauder is back to your daily driver.

I looked at an Aveo at the car show, but I couldn't get my knees under the wheel.

The Solictise and Saturn thing, I had a different problem. I just couldn't get inside the car, without standing. When standing I couldn't sit down because my legs were too long to get under the dash board. I never tried the drivers side, it looked even smaller. I have to wonder if I was on the Trump apprentice show, And they wanted me to sell that car, what would I say? Nice statue, has a radio, how many statues have that? hmmm

Good idea getting a high-mpg daily driver. I hope these days of soaring gas prices will soon be past. In the meantime, hang on to your MM!(yeah,I know, I traded in for a Dodge ChargerSRT8 with even worse mileage). Things will even out soon. I hope.

Ray,

Prayers sent for your mom, glad to hear you've found an economical DD that lets you keep the MM.

And hey, if gas prices ever return to affordable levels (yeah, right!) you can put the Aveo in the Marauder's trunk and use it as a spare.

I hope your mother is recovering well. Now let that yellow car do it's thing...so you can keep that Marauder as mint as possible FOREVER!

Yeah, sorry to rub salt in the wound. We all know gas isn't ever going to be "affordable" again. Not like it used to be, anyway. :(

I already refer to it as the Marauder's dingy :D. I pick it up tomorrow afternoon. I have another trip to Rochester on Sunday so we'll see how it does. I got 23mpg with the DTR today going out, but thats half of what the Aveo is capable of. Already shopping for a stereo for the Dingy.

Forgot, Mom's doing good health wise, adjusting to losing her freedom, not too good. At least she blames the doctors and not us. PS, if you have a older parent, have them sign their home over to someone they trust before the government ends up with it...

1st road trip with under 200 miles on the yellow bomber resulted in 36 mpg at 72-75MPH. Other than it can't get out of its own way, I'm quite impressed with it. We moved a electric powered lift recliner to the nursing home in it and the hatch closed. I would have been SOL if had the DTR on that one. It sure isn't the MM but so far I'm happy with it.
