I posted in Zack's thread about selling my forged big bore 5.0 Modular engine and dropping in a 408W stroker motor.

It was just a thought...but I'm starting to really think about it.

Instead of bolting on the Procharger (that is STILL in the box) and spending LOTS more money to get a SCT/Diablo tuner and a custom dyno tune...
Why not sell the Modular DOHC and the Procharger S/C kit and go all the way with a '385' series Ford Big Block 514 crate engine.
It will fit in the Marauder and would run like stink with 600 FT-LBS of torque under your foot!!!...N/A!.....
It also would live for a LONG time.

The only problems would be getting it in 'sync' with the Marauder's computer and what tranny would fit AND survive behind the beast?

Maybe a good idea Joe. I have done a couple of engine swaps in my muscle cars over the years. But honestly, I think it will be less money to put the Procharger in the car and get it tuned. Major issues in a motor swap that goes far beyond just the motor. I looked at putting in a 5.4 in my Marauder but it would have been way too much work and money involved to complete the project. Maybe your idea would be less money, but the work will still be there. My $.02....... Ask John (TooManyFords) about his project, big blower et al...dammm......

I'm not so sure about the idea, it would be great for making huge torque and hp numbers but the 385 has not been known for fuel efficiency. So your decision may (should?) be focused on operating efficiency. Do you want to have a MONSTER MARAUDER with tons of power but not really practical as a DD because it uses too much fuel, or a SUPER MARAUDER that is a decent daily driver that gets equal or better fuel economy compared to an Exploder or F150 and a lot more fun?

Use a TH400. It will require a new drive shaft, but a few shops in GA have installed them in mustangs.

Can't you use a stand alone engine management system (FAST?) to run it?

Use a Carburetor and a TH400 and use it on the Weekends.
BAD AZZ!

Joe, if you do, I'll talk about the 5.0 with you.
I'd want it.

I have a TH400 that I ran in my Trans Am, You'll probably want to upgrade the internals to handle the HP but it would be a fantastic donor....Wouldn't want much for it, just not sure how to get it too ya if you do this....let me know if your interested....

I used a C-6 behind my Super Gas car years ago, It had a 486 cu. in (385 series) with no problems at all.
C-4's are holding up to 700 lb. ft. of torque these days if built by the proper shops.;)

Any tranny with an Overdrive that will hold up to a Big Block?

Joe, I'd use a C6 with a Gear Vendors OD setup.

This would put me back into a Marauder if this can be done. Please keep us posted.

I had a 10:1 compression 429 in a T bird. With a C6 and 3.50 rear gears in a 9", that thing got 10 mpg HIGHWAY. It had a ton of torque but even with a properly jetted Carter AFB/Edelrborck carb, which are known for mpg more than all out power like a Holley, that thing was so so bad on gas. I would build another 429/460 car if gas didn't cost so damn much. Not being a DD is fine, but 10 mpg right now is gonna hurt
