Getting this information third hand, and apologize if it isn't 100% accurate. A nearby city lost an officer tonight on a traffic stop. One of our members on this site works for this particular city, and I'm praying for his safety.
Thoughts and prayers to the officers family, friends, and co-workers.
I'm hearing that they caught the subject responsible a short distance away. May he burn in hell.:mad2:

I have buried many friends in my 15 years as a police officer and it is always senseless. One of the saddest things to ever witness is a police officer's funeral. They call his number on the radio and give a eulogy over the radio which is played over every radio at the funeral. Then they put the officer 10-7 (out of service), there will not be a dry eye there at that point. I have been to many and I never without feeling I have lost a brother.

A policeman was killed last night.
He died while protecting your rights.
His creed was to protect and serve.
This fate he didn't deserve.
A mom and dad have lost a son.
So many other jobs he could've done.
His wife and kids are left alone.
Their daddy won't be coming home.
His fellow officers are hurt so deep.
For a fallen brother they weep.
The morning paper will print a story.
About a policeman who died in glory.
The flags will fly at half mast.
Politicians and citizens will seem sad.
The funeral is <ST1:Ptomorrow at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comhttp://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/ /><st1:time Hour=</st1:time>noon.
It will all be over very soon.
By next week they will have forgot.
That a policeman was killed last night.

A local police officer was shot and killed last night on a routine traffic stop. This happened a few blocks away from me. He was a good friend of my brother's. My brother is a LEO and I went on a ride along on the evening shift and just sitting in the vehicle while he was doing his job had me on edge.
I hope the killer gets what he deserves.
May Josh rest in peace.

Here in Chicago we recently lost a 27 year veteran to the streets. A mental savage was able to disarm the officer and use his own service weapon against him.

Just as long as the police do not do anything un-toward to the suspect.
Trust in the law.

I was wondering how close this was to you.
Damn!
I was also curious about the written story.
Since when is Twinsburg "suburban Cleveland"?
That statement alone is a crime.;)

This saddens me greatly. No doubt, we will find out that this POS should have already been in jail.
This reinforces the great respect I have for LEOs. They get crap for pay, they get ragged on by press and others, yet they keep going into harms way to try to protect all of us from these types of criminals. Any otherwise normal stop can turn into a life or death situtation. They know the risks, yet they keep going out there to try to make a difference. That is bravery.

What gets me is this piece of **** was given a CCW permit. While I'm not totally against it, they really need to have a more thorough process to obtain one.

Hey guys lets not turn this into argument about peoples opinions. If you have read anything by certain posters then you should know thier seemlingly anti LEO stance. This should just be for showing respect for a fallen brother in Blue.

I'm all for honouring a fallen officer. But just honour them in an honourable way respecting their code and practices not by suggesting the breaking of the laws said person would have enforced.

The subject is claiming self defense. He shot the officer four times in the head, and the officers weapon was never taken out of the holster.
I've heard that the dashcam was not recording at the time. The whole situation went bad quickly. The officer was attempting to cuff the subject within 2-3 minutes of the stop. The subject was valid and no warrants. I would guess that the subject became very disorderly.
The officer will be layed to rest on Friday.

My prayers to the officer's family. I too have lost many fellow officer friends. The older you get and the longer in the job, it does not get any easier to hear this kind of news.

Sorry to hear... I have only been to FD funerals... I am sure they don't differ too much... tear jerkers... I remember being at one and seeing a kid stand in front of class A uniformed firefighters in a kids bunker gear with helmet and everything and he saluted them... definite tear jerkers!
