Once I got to work this morning and found a place to park I put the car in Park and the next thing I know the rpms jumped up to 1400-1500. I thought maybe something was laying on the throttle so I looked, nothing. Put the car in Reverse and Drive and the rpms would go down to their normal amount, in Neutral and Park they would jump back up to 1400-1500.
I did nothing different on my way to work this morning and last time I drove the car was Saturday night and everything was fine and it sat all day yesterday.
Anyone have any ideas?

Oh noez confusion ahhhhhhh.
Zack what is your input?
If your tps reads between .95 and .99 when the rpms are high, rule that out.
Then look to the IAC.

volts
Also I don't think tPS is adjustable like in years past, i.e. later Fox 5.0s

Thanks Mike, I need to get a new battery for my meter now. I don't think Bradley G meant to adjust it, might be gunked up or something I dunno.

Before you do anything else......disconnect the negative battery terminal for a minute or so to reset the AL of the EEC!!
Mine did this a few times and resetting seems to have cleared it up.....I hope??

Its not, There are no slots on the TPS. When I did my throttlebody swap the TPS just screwed in and the volts were dead on. Some people have suggested that if the volts are off then slot out the sensor.
I would look at the IAC, I cleaned mine out and it had a lot of carbon in it. You have more miles then me so you are probably due.

Paul what did you use to clean it? Yeah I have 98,5xx miles on mine now. When I left work today the car acted just as normal and had several more start ups throughout the night before I just got home a few mins ago and it didn't happen again, so who knows.

I've cleaned IAC's with carb cleaner, brake cleaner would probably work too and dry sooner. An old tooth brush can help too depending on the style of IAC

I have not had much luck cleaning the IAC....seems the cleaner gets into the solenoid and it becomes sticky and makes things worse rather than better!!:argue:
Try resetting the EEC.....won't take but a few minutes and it may just fix this glitch!!

I used brake cleaner. You'll be surprised how much carbon builds up in there.
