Why are my front tires wearing on the inside of the front tires?

The car has over 200,000km and everything seams great. If I get an alignment what are the best specs. Any one type of machine better than others when it comes to alignment??

Any help would be appreciated,
P

Do a search for (Carfixer's) alignment specs.
It worked for me.;)

carfixer posted up alignment specs a while back, here's the link to that posting:

Chances are, if you have an MM-related question, it's already been asked at least once. Try out the Search feature, there's a whole bunch of good info right at your fingertips.

I guess that something has to be removed in order to get the right alignment spec... I had them max mine out and it still doesn't meet "carfixer's spec"

Once you have car fixers alignment specs the next trick is finding someone who will do it. I have been unsuccessfull so far.

His alignment is an alignment targeted w/ in factory specs. Any shop that can not do that, should not be doing alignments. And I know what you mean, it is tough to find guys that know anything beyond what the Hunter machine's pictures tell them. If a spec shows up green on the Hunter they leave it alone. Ie "toe and goe". The camber cams on the MM are easy to make adjustments with and are great. Some of the old stuff had really annoying camber adjustments, like GM's slotted strut knuckles. I found a tech that lets me use the alignment rack myself after hours. I should start an MM alignment service in the DC area. LOL

Yep I admit to being lazy and not using the search funtion.:D Thank you for the input I wrote all the numbers down and will research an alignment company that can do this. Are all alignment machines the same??

Guess I'll use the search function for Alignment machine,

No, not all alignment machines are the same. The newer the better. The newer hunter machines factor in all kinds of crazy things like wheel runout. MAKE SURE the shop you use has lipless wheel adapters. Most shops won't have them and will chunk your wheel lips trying to force the universal mounting hooks in between the wheel and tire. I have a set of spare Mazda 18" wheels that I use for aligning. Don't care if those get sc***** up.

I just had mine done on Monday and the mechanic had no problem doing it to Carfixers specs. Took a cruise to OC Md. on Tuesday using the Highway and Backroads and with the new front tires it felt and handled very well. I even outran a Hemi dodge truck on Rt. 50 , I had 5 in my car and he was by himself. Just remember they have to remove the flags in order to get it right.

Have a look here at posts #5 and #7.

There are a couple factory 'stops' (tabs/flags) that need to be removed before the alignment can proceed. If your alignment guy has trouble, this is why. If he says those specs are wrong, get a new alignment guy.

The specs are right, and within tolerance. And they work.

It might help if you "grease" the technician....

Usually a 10 spot will work.

I got a guy that does only alignments, I set an apt for tomorrow.
He is an old school chassis builder, I'm pumped, after 65 K and four sets of tires, I'm going to go straight.
Actually, I've held off so long, cause the car drives straight as an arrow, no shakes or shudders.

The dealer should do it...particularly if you print the specs and flag removal pictures from this site and bring them with you. Give them to the tech or service advisor.

The suggestion of padding the tech works nicely as well.:P

My local dealership did mine, and now some 15k later, absolutely NO unusual wear on the fronts. Before the change, my fronts with 22k were showing cords on the insde edges!
