How hard is the install? The directions seem pretty cut and dry but I'm not too confident in my mechanical abilities, should I give it a go or just fork over the dough and have my mechanic do it?
If I do decide to do it does the intake need to be tourqued to a specific number??
Thanks in advance guys.

It is a easy install. The EGR is the only part that me be a little hard to put back on. You must wait for the engine to be completely cold before you start taking things apart.
When you reinstall the bolts, there is criss-cross pattern when tightning the bolts down and they are to be torqued at 12ft-lbs.

My wife helped me do mine. Really easy and I am NO mechanic.

Sean, it's one of the simplest mods you can do yourself, next to installing a CAI.
The bolt tightening instructions are included with the kit, or at least I think they were...It's been so long since I did mine that I can't remember for sure, but someone here will correct me.
The lower intake is cast aluminium and the threads are easily stripped, so be sure to use an inch-pound torque wrench...do NOT try to guess by hand.

Yeah the bolt tightening pattern is included with the instructions. The EGR is the only part that will slow you down but just take your time with it.

Regarding the EGR, the instructions tell you to remove the large nut connecting the EGR tube to the EGR valve. I didn't have a wrench that size, so I removed the valve itself from the upper intake. It's just two small bolts and a steel shim/gasket. It made everything much simpler.

What can one expect from that mod? 4-5 HP?
A little more midrange torque.

Where do you buy it, how much is it, and is it just a spacer between the upper, and lower half of the intake manifold?
You can do this WITHOUT touching the EGR, FYI.

With the bolts removed you can pry the lid up enough to slide the spacer and gasket in. Its your call.

That is that way I did it too.The EGR was a PITA, helps having another person to hold or place.
