Its come to my attention this past week that someone in my neighborhood has bought a new Challenger SRT8. I seen him again today (as I was putting new headlamps on the Marauder:2thumbs:). Got me thinking, with all the hype that came with that car, is it really all that? As I have said before, I do like the appearance but it doesnt give me that itch the Marauder does. So, here is my question just for S***'s and giggles:
If you where to find:
1) Your dream Marauder (which I know most of you already have) but lets say with 100 original miles.
or
2) A Brand new Challenger SRT8.
Which will you choose? Lets see how Loyal some of us really are.

Marauder hands-down. I absolutely cannot wait for one to pull up next to me at the right time and right place:D. I already have a video camera mount ready to set up in the car to get a picture of his face.. But that is just me;).

Well, I love my MM, but I am planning to buy an '09 SRT8 Challenger. Don't worry, no plans to sell the marauder either. To your question, I obviously think it does warrant the "buzz" around it. Love the retro look and 425 HP & a 6 speed!! Too bad these *&^%$ gas prices!
The question for me is academic. I couldn't then, nor can I now, afford the Challenger SRT8 or the new Camero or Mustang's.
So the Marauder is my choice, but I wouldn't hesitate to race and prolly make a good showing against these Super (expensive) Cars.

I know that and im sure he does also just saying the majority of the members on this site will awnser in favor of the marauder
My mm is is the only car that i had to actually search for to buy and from 04 to when i bought i looked at about 10 i too had to fight financial hurdles to get mine
All is good now;)
Also everydody and their dog knows what a Challenger is. People are always asking... What is a Marauder?

I spent over an hour with the owner of an orange Challenger SRT8 with all of 17 miles on it. First, with an MSRP of $ 42,00 ++++++, and the 2-door cabin, it doesn't fit all my needs. It is very impressive and the detailing is simple, but functional. Irt is really retro and will get a lot of followers. The dealer rep said there will be a factory Challenger in full racing config--roll bars, etc at over 600 RWHP by the end of 2009-- only about 6,000 units this year---oh , if Ford had had the guts to carry out the full Marauder program. It doesn't look like the fuel price is going to be a factor--the people that want this car don't care. I forsee a long life for this line.
BUT, there is no way I would give up my Marauder for a Challenger

SRT 8's have alot more than we do from the factory. Their look is a little more pedestrian becuase there are so many. With Mods, the Marauder wins in my book for exclusivity, looks and insane power.

BTW, thanks for not kicking me off the site for this post guys! :D

I was a Mopar guy before I got my blue blood but I would have to still stick with the Marauder. 425 factory HP is nothing to shake a stick at but with a 6.1L engine; come on! There is no replacement for displacement; however Technology is the only subsitute for cubic inches... put a positive displacement blower on a Marauder to even it up a bit and a SRT-8 doesnt stand a chance.
I watched 2 SRT's run a the track on friday...the exhaust note is beautiful but the cars werent running very impressive times IMO...

I went thru the Ford vs Chevy BS when I was growing up. One day I realized
1. If you don't actually make the thing, you are a buyer. You can have pride in ownership but you didn't make the damn thing, you bought it. It is someone else's creation and they own the bragging rights.
2. Its only a car, as such it will break, rust, burn, smoke, melt, dent, etc regardless of who made it. (some with greater frequency)
3 You will get eventually tired of it and desire a newer, faster, sleeker, sexier replacement. You probably wont be able to afford it, You will go into debt anyway and then question WHY?
4. When you die none of this matters....................... ................ The kids or _______________ (fill in blank) will abuse it, wreck it, dent it, fornicate in it and treat it in ways that have you spinning in your grave.
I have owned Fords, Chevys, Dodges and even Datsuns and a Toyota. They were all cool cars at the time, they all broke and were repaired. They all put a smile on my face at the time I owned them.
For the people who say they'd never drive a Dodge or whatever are missing out on an experience. Life is too short to pass up any experience that becomes available (assuming legal endevors here - jail time reduces exposure to new things (except maybe Bubba)).
By the way, my choice would be the 100 mile MM, make mine in Fire Engine Red. Rick

The SRT8 would be great if it had a Straight Eight.
But it doesn't.

Over time one tends to see other vehicles, which leads to thoughts of dispersing with their current car in favor of something else. However, I don't believe I could part with my Marauder.
It is almost mind boggling how much attention a Marauder generates. A large 4 door sedan that acts like a magnet, even in while the company of some very impressive cars. I can't drive down the street without necks turning or people coming up and knocking on the window in the parking lots to ask what the car is. Such reactions are indicative of how unique our cars are. A reaction seldom seen and I dare say, that even an SRT-8 Challenger once on the market a while, will not be able to compete with.

I would take the Challenger without batting an eye. The car is impressive right on threw. I was never a fan of modifying big heavy cars from the start and the Challenger appears to put down everything I need it for. But it is a little heavy for a 2 door for my tastes.
Now if you want to talk about a REAL car why not discuss the Vette ZR1?

So what were the times that these 2 srt's were runnin??
I'm still tryin to get my neighbor who has a 565hp(:bs:)
Dodge Daytona (sharp car, yellow with the flat black billboards on the hood and sides) to race me but he won't take me up even tho he says he can beat me:dunno:.

I would take the SRT8 Challenger in a heartbeat. IMO its better looking and has much better performance. Might be a tad bit heavier than some of the other Srt models, but should be a low 13 second driver stock.

If you said Marauder or SRT8 CHARGER, I'd probably pick the Charger. The ride from the independent rear suspension has got to be a lot more refined than the live axle old fashioned panther platform. 5 speed auto vs 4 speed auto is also a very notable difference to me. I couldn't afford an SRT8, especially considering what an MM would bring right now. So MM it is. It's a great car and I like driving it, but I would not turn my nose up at something that had much better ride quality and handling without sacrificing performance.

Nitrous, see my post directly above yours. Great minds think alike? PS, why do we both have 3.73s in Marauders? I installed mine because I already had them and I had the dealer pinion depth tool so.... didn't cost anything at that point

Can't get too excited about the Challenger's body style. It's still better to look good than to ............! At the end of the day, it's still a Dodge and not much to look at.IMO:) I'll stick with my Marauder.
