While driving home from the car wash, I noticed an early 90's T-Bird S/C just ahead in traffic stopped at a light. The car appeared to contain a couple of local teens. As the light changed, they sped off and turned onto one of the subsequent streets.

I continued coasting on my way home. After turning onto a long empty two lane street, I noticed the Bird back a ways behind me. I signaled to change into the right lane, as I would be making a right turn onto a side street shortly. At the moment I complete the lane change, I again see the Bird in my rear view, but now taking a serious run at me. It would seem that the driver thought it would be funny to try take a run and blow by me. He was coming hard, and if I didn't get out of the way somehow, or get on it, I was going to have a S/C Bird planted into the back end of my Marauder. In this instance, it was fortunate that a S/C Marauder is way too much car for a S/C Bird. I dropped the hammer, and although he was already coming hard, I left him as though he was standing still.

I stopped at the next stop sign prepared to read the riot act, but wisely the teen sped off the other way. Hopefully, he realizes how close he came to causing an accident. Nevertheless, it would seem that in this circumstance, the supercharger was in essence an accident avoidance system of sorts. ;)

I never thought I would be one to say this, as I really enjoy my Marauder and take a lot of pride in it, but it almost seems to attract too much attention at times. It's incredible exactly how much attention our large 4 doors can attract. I very much enjoy having a car that is unique, but I can't take a drive up town for milk without someone wanting to race at a light in the middle of town. I ignore them of course. It would be one thing if we were at the track, or even at an open stretch of highway, but in the middle town, get real!

More often than not, it is drivers of cars that are well out of their leaque. The bulk of them just want to goad a person into hitting it so they can see what your car will do, I suppose. Just from appearance, they know you've got some power, so I like to keep them wondering as to exactly how much it has got. There is a certain mystique about our cars, especially the ones with power adders. We are drivers of modern day refined muscle cars, not punks with some piece of crap beat up old Camero, or rice rocket with a giant muffler, that have to peel out at every corner to show some sort of prowess.

Must be where you guys live. Nobody usually tries to race the MM. And I try!

Thats because the majority of cars in your area are 90's eclipses and integras, or other slow obnoxious loud cars.

lots of people race on route 1 up here, i had a run in with a Mk4 Golf and a Mk1 golf not long ago

...... the supercharger was in essence an accident avoidance system of sorts. ;)

My S/C 'er has done exactly this in many occasion---it got me out of the way --way much faster than if it had been stock from many situations from crazy people----...

My first kill was the night I got my S/C'er----on my first time behind the wheel of it---and it was a Thunder-Chicken--(T-Bird) of all things---guys in it didn't know what hit them as I left them in their lane----and there were 4 adults in my MM at the time......I let go at 115......it was too much for them......carry on...love the S/C MM's
