Looking for info on upgrading my 03 MM trans..
Anyone recommend a shift kit, mods, ect.. ??

Its not slipping but, hitting the rev limiter in 1st - to- 2nd and kind of sluggish.

J-Mod, do a search

Shift kits are pointless if you want your trans to perform well and last long.

ford shoulda J-modded every 4R transmission. i can't imagine going back to a trans without it.

Tune can fix that.

Thanks guys

Did you put a smaller tire on it since you bought it?

I have a tune and don't find anything wrong with how my trans shifts. I can make the shifts too firm with the tune and then I have to back them down to be firm enough without being harsh. What would a J mod offer me? Harsher shifts would be unnecessary because the tune already allows me more than enough control over that.

Step 1 - Remove Transmission

Step 2 - Send Transmission to Darrin @ BC Automotive

Step 3 - Reinstall Transmission

Step 4 - :D

That worked for me also.

Can someone tell me how to find / buy the J-Mod ??The J-mod isn't a thing, it's a procedure. You remove the valve body and separator plate and enlarge some holes in the plate and remove some springs in a couple of the accumulators/servos. I believe Darrin at BC (vendor here) sells already-drilled plates and gaskets.

I suggest a combination of J-Mod and tune would be optimal. The J-Mod accomplishes
firmer shifts without raising line pressure, which is good, but removing the intermediate
accumulator springs can cause harsh 1-2 shifts if you back out of the throttle at the
time it shifts. With a tune, you can leave the accumulator springs in, and compensate
with less line pressure increase than if you did it with the tune alone.

I agree with JACook, do the j-mod but leave in the accumulator springs. It can be very harsh with the spring removed.

My advise to KB-Marauder-s is to do a "full" j-mod (and maybe drill holes 2,4 and 5 to 125.) and of course remove the accumulator springs.
Then adjust line pressure to fine tune it.
Thats what I did and it's shifting perfect :)
