Need help from the net. I have a small Summit fuel press gauge (0-100 psi - oil filled) that I would like to install on the DS fuel log where the Sheider (sp.) fuel pressure valve is lcoated. The gauge needs a female 1/8" NPT to screw into, but I cannot determine the correct size/name of the other female end fitting to connect to the fuel log valve. In addition, I need a right angle fitting so I can see the gauge face when it is installed on the fuel log. Can someone provide me the correct fitting name and where I can buy one? A Part number would be great. The fitting is probably supplied by Earl's, but I just do not know what fitting type to use.

Thanks,

Glenn :burnout:

I know this isn't really what you're looking for, but I took my sender (gauge mounted on A-pillar next to boost gauge) with me to my FLAPS so that I could check the size and such, and I found a nice little brass 45 deg angle fitting that worked great. Maybe just take the gauge with you to the parts store and find a fitting that works. Most of those places have a whole rack full of different fittings you can use.

Be sure to use a little thread sealer when you put it all together, too.

I've been to several stores including NAPA and no help. I can find 1/8" NPT for the gauge, but not a right angle fitting with another female connection on the end to fit the smaller Scheider valve which apparently requries a different type of machine threads?

Reinhart has them in stock.
I dont know the part #, sorry.

It should be 1/16" NPT threads.

Summit sells an adapter (I think it's from Holley, can't remember) 1/16->1/8 npt and you can use 1/8 npt 45 angle on top of that.

Your local plumbing supply (not lowes or home depot, a *real* plumbing store) will probably have a 1/8->1/16 45 degree adapter on the shelf so you don't have as many fittings (and potential leaks)

Check mcmaster-carr as well.

Thank you Drock, I did find the fitting at Summit. For general net information; if you want to install a small face fuel gauge into your DS fuel log I have found the correct fitting that will fit into the provided FL shrader valve opening. You need to remove the valve along with the very small adapter fitting that connects the fuel log with the valve. The remaining opening in the fuel log can now accept the new adapter. The new adapter is a AutoMeter #3280 - 1/16" NPTF Male Ford fuel rail gauge adapter. The opposite end is a female 1/8" NPT which you have to insert a right angle fitting - 1/8" NPT female to 1/8" NPT male end. The fuel gauge male end then is screwed into the 1/8" NPT female end of the right angle fitting which then goes into the new adapter female end above. The right angle fitting is needed so you can easily read the fuel gauge from standing in front of the engine/front bumper and looking down at the engine.

Today I finally finished installing the Fuel Rail pressure gauge. Gauge was $18.00 at Summit.
