between 40 and 55mph soft peddel car feels like it's missing. if i give it half peddel it seems ok. below 40mph in lower gears no problem. above 60 mph seems ok. i did get a pending #8 cyl missfire once over 2 weeks. replaced fuel filter, spark plugs, flushed tranny, air filter. 2 bottles dry gas.

any ideas on what the cause would be?

Clean your "Springy Thingies" or replace them with GMS solid connectors!!

Some say the GMS connectors are a waste of time but they fixed the very same problem with my car a couple years ago!!:bows:

Also, the solid connectors may prevent spark plug blow out since they cannot back out if loose!!:D

Read my recent post in shop talk I am dealing with the same thing right now. I am going to have my friend to a coil stress test to find out if a cop is bad. I believe a cop is on its way out so I will be buying new ones.

Your problem is described exactally like mine. I did not get a CEL yet but I think the Ford computer should find something.

COPS can also fail in multiples. I have experienced that.

If your engine is missing I suggest you replace it immediatly! Do you think someone stole it? Mabey it just fell out somewhere. (couldn't resist)

Mine was missing recently. Replaced a COP and the miss went away. Probably your problem. Started missing again in the past week or so, so it looks like I'll be buying more. Just going to do my best to just replace all of them.
