Picture this....a nice summer afternoon in a sub of Detroit. Not a cloud in the sky, nice refreshing breeze. I am sitting at stop light, listening to some tunes, when I notice another black car pull up next to me. I glance over to check out the Dale Earnhardt edition Monte Carlo, nice car, but obviously not my cup of tea since I am cruising around in the Marauder. Now....picture this guy popping his car into neutral so he can rev his motor a few times. WTF pops into my mind, you have to be kidding me shortly thereafter. It becomes obvious that he wants to go when the light turns green. So I slowly rev up the rpms while holding down the brake. I love the lurch you get with this car when you do a good brake torque. After a hearty squack, I am off like a shot, needless to say he never had a chance, so I don't know what the hell he was thinking. Maybe he thought it was an old mans car with shiny rims, or that having the Earnhardt Edition gave him mystcal powers! I can assure you he knows what a Marauder is now..... what a marooon....
This car is the best....

Just wait until you get your SC!!
Your going to have to carry tissue around in your car to dry your eyes after laughing so hard you cry when something like this happens..

Marauderer, I am trying to forget about the blower. I feel like Menace! It is beginning to drive me bonkers waiting for Tuesday to role around! I printed out that list of 0-60 times you posted last week....I figured I will have to keep it in the car and go hunting for some of those cars to check them off as they fall prey to the mighty Marauder, last of a dying breed.... I had better stop before I get on a roll.

the poor guy is going to write the editors of Car and Driver and Motor Trend asking why they said the Marauder is a slow car.

I always liked the Monte Carlo bodies, myself. All blacked-out, the special editions are pretty to look at. But look at what's inside and it just makes you laugh (or cry, if you own one) . . .
FYI:
2004 "SS" Monte Carlo has a supercharged 3.8 liter V6 with 240 HP/280 ft-lbs torque (why did they even bother?). Curb weight: 3,522 lbs. And yeah, FRONT-wheel drive.

I guess it appeals to someone that thinks supercharger means fast.

Supercharger does mean fast on a V6. But then again, a V8 does the same thing :) But throw a S/C on a V8 and that means stupid fast! :D

When I sold my Dodge a couple months ago, the guy driving his daughter over to look at/buy it was driving a brand-spankin' new 04 YELLOW Monte Carlo SS.
And yes, the MM was prominently displayed in the driveway next to the Dodge.
I tried very hard not to laugh while complimenting the guy on his car (didn't want to lose the sale) and showing them the Dodge. I think my comment was "decided to go with the yellow - cool!" :P That allowed him to talk about being the first one to get one special ordered, etc. - I had tuned him out by then.
I bet he paid more for that SS than I paid for my MM since he had to special order, and I got so much more car it's not even worth talking about.
I did make the comment (only to the daughter - so it would probably get back to the guy later) that after she took the Dodge home she would be able to keep up with Daddy because of that Magnum engine. (OK most likely not but it's a closer comparison than to my MM)
I really wanted to take the MM out against the SS, but then I doubt I would have sold a car that day - and the MM was stock with only 2500 miles or so on it then. Oh well, better for the wallet to not show off that one time.
Thanks,
-A

My father/mother-in-law, wife, and I were coming home one night a few weeks ago in his MM. My brother-in-law and his girlfriend were behind us in her new Monte Carlo (not an SS) with him driving. He attempted to pass us, and as soon he got right beside us my pa-in-law punched it and flew away from him really quick................and that's with 4 PEOPLE in the MM!!!!!!!!! :D

Dale Earnhardt is a legend, can't say the same for the monte carlo ss. V6, front wheel drive, supercharged, give me a :censor: break.

It's funny because I get guys with Monte Carlos trying me too. Needless to say they probably won't do it again. I also had to teach an Acura TL a lesson day. I got him from a roll and he could not catch me. So much for those rice burners.
