I have been reading about the 90MM Maf and with/with-out IAT.

I'm sorry but I am confused. I have a 90MM Maf I was going to install when I do my headers, but don't know if I need to add a IAT or if it has it.

P/N on the sensor is:
1L3F-12B579-AB
AFH90-02
2F05

There are four pins in the connector, vs. the six in the harness and factory MAF sonsor. (I think I just answered my own question...)

What is the cost of adding a IAT and am I going to get any real benefit from doing a 90MM MAF?

Can I swap-out sensors (use OEM 6 pin) but use the 90MM housing without concern?

I don't know the part number but I bought the 90mm Lightning MAF and it did NOT have IAT. When I had Lidio tune the car he told me the car would run fine without but the CEL would always be on. Hsold me a correct IAT to add on myself to turn the CEL off, I did that and it worked. IAT cost me $75. I don't know the part number but call Lidio he can sell you one.

PS you most likely won't gain much with your current mods.

Install sensor part # DY-754 and corresponding pigtail part # WPT-322, both Motorcraft #'s.

Or you can go to the junkyard and grab the harness and sensor from any crown vic.

I think I may just remove the sensor that is in the 90MM MAF and put the one that is on the Marauder now in its place. Not sure if the Marauder sensor has the range needed to accomodate the extra air, but it is worth a shot.

Is there a thread that covers the installation of the IAT further 'down-stream' ??

Dont swap sensors into different housings, you are defeating the purpose.

The Sensor used in a Crown Vic (not the one I listed above) is installed in a grommet. Basically you drill a hole, install grommet then sensor. Not difficult.

Oh, allright then. I'm guessing two wires from new sensor to 6 pin connector from Marauder.

Not something I am going to get to tonight.

Thanks Zack.

Thanks Zack.

It's the two outer-most wires on the harness, both gray colored. You'll want to splice your new IAT sensor wiring into them.

Thanks, I was just about to ask that. To be clear: if the six wires were labeled in a row: A B C D E F, the gray wires I need would be the A and the F, correct?

No 2003+ panther (CV/GMQ/MM/TC) has a separate IAT sensor, so make sure you look for a '92-'02 model (same sensor and pigtail all years)

The IAT is a twist-in type with rubber seal on sensor body. You need to drill the hole and make two small notches for it to lock in. Simple, and it doesn't have to be perfect.

Position it here if you want it like factory -02s:

Thanks you guys, you are all great help. I intend to install on a JLT intake, so I guess closer to the throttle body is better. I think the parts new are $35 & $25 for sensor and connector respectively. I'll see what my Ford Tech can do for me.

Maybe next weekend.

So,

Next question... Where shall I locate the IAT Sensor on the JLT intake system I intend to install? Closest to the TB on the Schedule 40 that is painted black?

Does anyone have a pic of what I am attempting.???

By the way... Don't use the OEM sensor on a 90MM Maf. The computer does not like it. Yes, I tried. Each time at start up, it wouold immediately stall. After several attempts, it would stay running, but rough. After 5 minutes, things would level out, but acceleration was poor to say the least. As such, not recommended. Back to the MM airbox and OEM MAF...
