Backing into a parking space this morning @ work, my '04 black MM had a kind of wierd vibration, feeling like coming from the powertrain.
I haven't had this before in the 36K+ miles we've owned this daily driver, am a bit mystified. Can't tell if it is the trans, engine or power steering even. Never had any problems with this car except the abnormal tire wear experienced by other Marauderers.
Anyone else experience this, or similar? I guess I will take it to Hollywood Ford tomorrow, since it is across from where I work @ CHLA. We have the extended warranty offered by Ford, and CHLA employees are offered a discount on service related charges.:(

Earthquake was yesterday while I was @ lunch, today no detectable seismic activity while parking.
Have experienced temblor activity while driving, and it definately was different than what I experienced this morning.

rear end? I have experienced instanced like this when the car is cold, but once the fluids warm up it seems to go away... It almost feels like my rear end and with the recent blowing of the posi, I feel that has something to do with it... Don't hold me to this...

Let us know if you start to hear a moaning sound while going foward...
If so, your foward clutch is going out...Not good...
If no such sound...I would flush the system...and suspect the T/C...

My 04 did it. My 03 does it. Get use to it. Dealer may do something about it. I never brought any of mine in for it so I couldn't tell you what it is but your not alone.

After work, I drove carefully home, noting most of the engine vibration occuring between 1500-2000 RPM, made worse when the A/C was running.
Over 2K RPM the vibration was less. I have an XCal2, and a Reinhart tune loaded on this N/A car, so I scanned for DTCs at home , but none were set.
I talked with another forum member, and he says our DR tunes have a tendency to foul the OEM platinum plugs, and recommended switching to a copper plug either Motorcraft, or NGK one heat range colder than stock.
I ordered a set of NGK TR55 plugs, so it remains to be seen, The stock plugs have 38K miles so it may be time anyway. I have read posts regarding plug changing in our aluminum heads, Anyone in the San Fernando valley I can go to?

You know, if it is the engine, it may be a lazy coil. I had one go bad in mine at that milage. It felt like two oposing cylinders were missing it shook so bad. No CEL either.
Ford Tech said one coil was 30% innefective. Replaced and no trouble since.
This was caused by water getting into the plug bore and fouling the plug and coil. The water got in at the wiring harness opening on the passengers side coil cover.
Good luck.

I have read posts regarding plug changing in our aluminum heads, Anyone in the San Fernando valley I can go to?You don't need to go somewhere to get the plugs changed...it's ridiculously easy on this motor. Just be sure the motor is COLD and that you use a torque wrench to tighten them (11 ft/lbs).

Dennis Reinhart called me and in the course of our discussion I to him mentioned that I had installed Granatelli cops and connectors the same weekend I installed his tune.
DR suggested the symptoms I was having, probably could relate to those coils, and after work a friend with a shop was kind enough to scan the car and found no misfires or bad injectors, but did notice the symptoms I had described before. He also suggested that I replace the GMS coils with the OEM units.
So tomorrow I will do just that, it is possible that over time a wire in one of the coil connectors has backed out, since installation required a change in polarity in the connectors, and not all of them snapped in as well as the factory way.
I will change the sparkplugs next weekend anyway for the NGK TR 55s I have on order, since they are supposed to work better with the DR tune I have on the car.
