I was going thru some wrecked marauder photos (long story) and i came across one with the gun metalish rims.

Doesnt that car seem fimalar to this?

Cant be the same though, right :depress:
One other question, i heard there was a way to not get polished rims, were those wheels (Feat above) an option? Ive never seen them on any marauder besides the S55 concept.

my first thought...
the big picture is dark...hard to tell if it has ventshades...
looks like something in the windshield not on both...
but it's possible.

Looks like someone got some painted "spare wheels" and took the paint off the rims??

IIRC, the S55 concept car used the non-polished spare wheel as all four main wheels on the car. It looks like whoever owned that wrecked one did the same thing. I think I have better pics of the concept car @ home somewhere.

Randy....do you recognize the background area? You could go down and strip it for parts....

My first set of powdercoated wheels in 2003 were that color.
JEEP grey to be exact.
I did not like the color afterall, and went with what I have now.

Looks like it's near sand island access road or somewhere off lagoon drive on the island of Oahu.

Alright i guess it cant be the same car, but i also have no clue what happend to the S55 concept, i know steve babcock got the gauge pack, the steering wheel air bag cover, and one of the rims, and thats all thats probably left of it.

Military base stickers on the windshield and red pin stripes on the bumper.

I saw that rainbow on the front license plate and almost choked...traded the Black Hulk in at the Pontiac place by the Hono airport just over two years ago now. Then I read the numbers and felt only a little better; wasn't mine (mine was NWR 794; still had the plate six months later when I saw it at the downtown Walmart parking garage), but somebody lost a beloved friend there...
I'd agree on the location; looks very similar to all those open lots on Sand Island Access Road...mebbe along the Nimitz as it passes by Sand Island.

The full size spare wheels don't have shiny paint like that, it is a dull grey and it rubs off on your hands. It's barely paint, it is more a protective coating. They are most likely polished wheels that had the lip masked and then the center sprayed. I am thinking about doing the same and spraying the centers black like Cruztaker did. I have an extra polished wheel to try it on and see if I like it up close in personal

You guys are good...
Sand Island / Airport / Military Base is my first guess also...
It's illegal to strip cars here, Derek...
No one is advertising sale of a wrecked MM....which leads me to lean toward Military Base...
I would love to aquire one...

I think I've got it...the military uses part of the old runway/ramp area on Ford Island as an ersatz impound yard. It's waaaaay out on the far side of the island, out by the USN Brig area.
Y'know, LB, they occasionally do auctions out there for the general public. Keep an eye on the classifieds; they'll put out a notice...either that or get tight with one of the local USN kine that works out on da island.
