I've got a recurring problem with the storage compartment in my overhead console. The the rear and driver's side edges of the cover have popped off the hinged frame causing it to hang down slightly when closed. Also, it requires two hands to open the compartment now; I have to push up on the loose edges with one hand while working the latch with the other hand....a real PITA.
I've tried a couple different types of adhesives, but nothing seems to hold for too long.
Anybody else have this problem, or any suggestions on repairing? Can the storage comparment be removed from the console without taking down the whole console?
As an alternative, does anyone have a used light flint long console for sale? Anybody know if the storage compartment can be purchased as a separate piece rather than buying a whole new console?

It's not light flint but I bet it can be painted.

Well, the covre finally came completely off the hinged frame on the OH console today. I pulled the console out and headed down to my friendly local FoMoCo dealer to get a price on an OEM replacement.
WOULD YOU BELIEVE OVER $1,000 retail and $850 wholesale!
I'm going to try to repair it, but don't have a lot of hope that the repairs will hold.
Anybody have a full length overhead console in light flint that's for sale?

Is the one you're looking for typically in the Black MM? If so I believe that Greggash has one he might part with.
Just go off the phone with him and he says he's got one that been bubble wrapped for a while now, so either send him a PM or he'll get back to you.

You could buy that $800 interior thats for sale, part it out and make some people happy, plus a little $$$ for your trouble.

Ed,
Yeah, it's the full-size one that came in the 300A.
I found one from a CVLX, but it's tan.

Yeah, his is a bit darker than that. I have one but I just installed it in my CVPI. Now all I have left to do is get the compass to work. I'll keep my finger crossed for ya.

Pulled the console yesterday, pulled out the storage compartment and used some PVC cement with acetone to glue the cover back onto the hinged frame. C-clamped the assembly together for 12 hours, and viola! Everything seems to be holding together good and tight, so I put everything back together and re-installed.
