Ok all you Panther owners. Here is an opportunity to show what you got and raise money for a super cause. I have already registered!
I am referring to the 9/11 Memorial Car Show on September 20, 2008 put on by the Orange County Sheriffs Office at the Central Florida Fairgrounds. Several of us Vic owners went last year and to have a few more and Marauders to boot this year would be awesome. It was hotter than blazes but it was still fun. And for those spouses or owners so inclined, there is a large Flea Market at the same location.
This year all cars will be outside. Tents are allowed and after last year, I would say encouraged! Bring plenty of fluids also, but drinks are available there.
Last year we met in the large parking lot behind the McDonalds at the northwest corner of W. Colonial Drive and N. John Young Parkway. The fairgrounds is 1.4 miles west of there allowing easy exiting from McDonalds. The show starts at 10AM and so we should pull out of McDonalds just after 9AM. so get to McDs early to hang out and meet/greet everyone.

Last year it was a bit of a cluster with the folks at the show figuring where to put us. Hopefully this year, they will have a clue. I am going to call one of the Deputies and see what they have planned.
Here is a link to a flyer for the show. LINKY (http://www.ocso.com/portals/0/SOEventFlyers/Car%20Show%20FLIER5.pdf)
The wife and I and another couple are going to be looking for a Motel in Kissimmee. Any recommendations where maybe several of us can stay?
Also I was thinking that maybe we could all invade the car show at Old Town in Kissimmee that Saturday night and show what we got. So get your cars cleaned and ready, get your banners, canopys, tents and gear together and come out for a good time!
They do give out real nice trophies for a large variety of classes.
It would be nice if we could get a large group like the SSM Picnic.
So who's up for this gathering? :burnout:

Just spoke to the folks at Old Town. I told her I did not have a firm number on cars coming, but said there would be at least six of us. Just FYI, this is being cross-posted at MM.net and CVN. The lady asked that if we are going to have more than six cars to let her know so they can rope off a spot for all of us together.
According to their website, cars can start rolling into Old Town at 1PM, but the Memorial Show doesn’t end till 3PM, so we could head over as a Group from one show to the other. Imagine the heads we will turn. She said that at Old Town we need to pull in together if we can and the entrance to use is between the Ferris wheel and Checkers. All folks showing at Old Town need a valid license, proof of insurance and their registration with them.
So please let me know if you are coming to the Memorial Show and/or Old Town so I can get some numbers. Thanks.
Also if any Marauder owner has one of the Marauder banners, please bring it with you.

I have updated the first post with a Google Earth shot of the McDonalds and where to park there in the morning before the show. The McDonalds is just 1.4 miles west of the Fairgrounds making for an easy right on to the roadway out of McDonalds and another right into the Fairgrounds.
The wife and I are staying at the Comfort Suites directly behind Old Town. They have a great AAA Rate. MOTEL LINK (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g34352-d88575-Reviews-Comfort_Suites_Maingate_East-Kissimmee_Florida.html)
Look forward to seeing you all there.
There are a few folks listed as possibles on the list. Please update as to wether you can go or not. I have told Old Town that there are 12 of us going to be there that night, but I just learned of a friend bringing six cruisers from his Museum in Largo for both shows.
If you have decided to go and are not on the list, please let us know. Remember this is for a good cause!

What time is everyone meeting at Olde Town? Is there a designated meeting place? Maybe the motel parking lot where we met for Marauderville?

We will be leaving the fairgrounds when the show is over, supposedly at 3PM. The entrance for Old Town is out front between the Ferris Wheel and the Checkers.

Twice as many cop cars this year. I will post pics tomorrow. There were two Marauders, BadMerc being one of them. Four or five Vics from the list I posted showed. I'm a bit tired and working off memory.
We all went to Old Town afterward and it was very enjoyable. The consensus of everyone who went is to make this a yearly event, both the 9/11 car show and the Old Town afterward. Even though on Saturday nights at Old Town is supposed to be for 1972 and older cars, we were welcomed with open arms by the staff and many folks thanked us for coming.
One grumpy old fart with a real nice looking older car parked across from us complained about us being there. He was told by Old Town staff that we were there at the invitation of Old Town Management. He was told that if he did not like it they could complain to management and then hr was asked to leave.
I will post more tomorrow. It was a great time and perfect weather!

I e-mailed the nice lady I have been corresponding with at Old Town. I told her how much we enjoyed ourselves and thanked her and the staff. I also told her that those who went want to come back every year. She e-mailed back and said that we are welcome to come back and cruise anytime! She is also forwarding the e-mail to all the big-wigs at Old Town. If you want a copy of the e-mail I sent her let me know.
So mark your calendars for around the same time in September 2009. See you there.
