This is the press release;
" New Orleans Police officer is hospitalized after losing control and driving her police car off a bridge early this morning. Police say 25-year-old Monica Hall was in her police cruiser, on the Alvar Street bridge near I-10 and Louisa, when shortly before 4:00 this morning, she apparently lost control of the vehicle.

The cruiser crashed through the guardrail on the bridge, and plummeted 40 feet to the ground below. The car ended up upside down. Hall managed to crawl from the vehicle and radio for help.

Paramedics and other officers rushed to her aide. Hall is in stable condition at Charity Hospital, recovering from broken bones and other injuries."

The update is she is in good condition and there were no broken bones or fractures. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Thank God the officer was not seriously hurt. A testament to the strength and durability of the panther platform.

Good to know she was unhurt (relatively).

Losing control at 4 am... sounds like a case of dozing off at the wheel, unfortunately. Considering all the "soft ride" discussions that are currently ongoing, maybe a stiffer Marauder-type suspension would have kept her awake. ;)

Unless someone saw what happened you should not second
Guess if the officer was dozing off or not . An accident investigation unit will conduct a full investigation and determine
what occured at that time and location . It's only fair .

Important point is the officer is not hurt!

I agree best to get the facts and then take action......................

The bottom line is the Panther platform is tough... in Vegas we have had black and whites (and plain cars) go off the road at 70+, roll a few times, and the officer survived. They have been hit from every angle at all different speeds too. Other than a few catching fire from the highway flares cooking off in the 120 degree heat of summer, they are tough and reliable. The only negative thing is that they just don't float worth a darn in the floods after the heavy rain. I am very comfortable driving them at speed and in traffic....

Agreed.... just making a link to some comments in another thread about falling asleep with the non-Marauder suspensions, etc. No implications on what actually happened, and I certainly don't mean to lessen the seriousness of the event.

Funny, I thought I deleted that post microseconds after sending it, thinking it was a bit tasteless given the situation. Oh well, guess the board software beat me to it... I humbly accept the deserved backlash... :flamer:

No backlash intended or deserved . as you said , the other thread stating the possibly of falling asleep are persons that are quick to jump to conclusions without first finding out what caused the colision . the main point that we all agree is that the officer survived and the importants of the Panther Platform .

She was responding to a call to back up a fellow officer. We have had a lot of rain over the past 2 days.

It may have been raining or wet.

think that I'm trying to change the subject here, but for what it's worth, I remember hearing somewhere that statistics have shown that more people die as a result of a traffic accident that happens in the rain than those who do while there's snow on the road. And that sounded pretty believeable to me since people(police officers, or not) tend to underestimate rainy conditions on the road. I see people flying by me all the time while driving in the rain. And I am by no means a slowpoke on the road when behind the wheel.

Actually, the ride of a CVPI, particularly the new ones, is almost as hard as aa Marauder
