That's a cool shot! Good focus on the car, and you can see motion in the wheels and brush that is flying by!

Has to do with the shutter speed. If the shutter was too quick, it got stop action on everything including the wheels.

Action shots are hard if you're standing still and the car is moving, because you need to lower shutter speed to get the wheels and background to blur, yet pan the camera steady along with the moving object to keep it sharp and in focus.

I think our resident motion/action picture expert right now is Jeremey (jdando), he's posted some really cool panning shots with the shutter just right!

Either way that is a cool pic. I kinda like stop action shots even with things in motion. One cool thing is it lets you see things your eyes will never see, like, if you stopped time in the middle of a high speed turn, what would things look like? Would you see tire deformation from gripping the track and the g's of the turn, body roll, etc. They can be really cool shots to see!

Thanks! I have to admit the wife took the pic, from passenger seat in a vehicle driving along side me. I told her to just aim at the closest headlight, and keep trying. Used shutter priority, to adjust until we got the right amount of "spin" I was looking for... Wish I had done a better job cleaning the window, tho (D'oh!).

As for the sense of motion vs. standing still, Breadfan is absolutely right - my photo was at a shutter speed of 1/125 of a second... Once it got to about 1/250 of a second or faster, it literally looked like just an ordinary picture of the car sitting in the middle of the road, with my butt in the driver's seat...

Check out my in motion image. That's Jeremy (jdando) behind the wheel of my Marauder. I took this image with Jermey's camera at the Car Craft car show a few weeks ago at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.

Shutter speed too fast.

Camera needs set to shutter speeds ranging 1/60 to 1/120 in shutter priority and manual spot focus preferred. If auto focus is used set focus spots to one rather than multiple.

Shooting in continuous mode will raise the potential for capturing a good shot.

Looking good! Great background, great lack of bizarre reflections. Nice highlight/reflection of the sun on the front grille/header.

Here is mine at BIR!

I'd love this in higher res if you have it. Preferably minimum 1920x1080 if you've got it.

What size are your rear tires? They look great!

I'm currently running Falken S/T Z01 all around. 235-50-18 up front and 255-55-18 out back... Compared to the stockers, they are a superior tire in every way, and aren't hard on the pocket book, either

Here's a shot of the tread pattern from behind:
