View Full Version : Marauder wont come out of park, no brake lights

Today after filling up, she wouldnt come out of park. Had to go to neutral then start. No brake lights either. Brake Light Switch????

Anyone know where its located?

Hold on...are you saying the car wouldnt start up in Park?

Brake light switch is at the pedal. Sounds more like neutral safety switch.

No, car starts in park, just wont come out of park. No brake lights. Dealer said car wont come out of park if brake lights not working, safety thing he said.

If the Brake Lamp switch is not working, it will not trigger the Shift Interlock, that is locking the shifter, to release the shifter.

well if it wouldnt come out of park then how did you get in nutral to start it?

I turn key once, went to nutral, started it then drive.

How do you get brake light switch off pedal?

Do you have a trailer harness? They get shorted then the brake solenoid will not disengage the interlock. Replace the brake lamp fuse.

Alright guys,

Replaced brake light switch, still no brake lights. Any idea what fuses to check or any other things to check????

As I said before, I cant get the car out of park. It starts but wont come out of park because I dont have brake lights. I have to turn key one click, put in neutral, start and then go to drive, but useless because I cant drive it because of no brake lights!!!!!!!!

Sorry Guys,

Some how some way I missed fuse 19---BRAKE LIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was blown.

I have lights now.


My Question:

Did I just go through all this F*****G Trouble for nothing or was the Brake Light Switch bad which in turn popped the fuse?

Any Thoughts?

Well, SOMETHING popped the fuse....

If'n it didn't pop on reinstall, I guess it MUST have been the switch, huh?

Just be glad that they're working now. Chaulk it up to the switch, and hope it doesn't happen again.:)
