What a rush!!!!!
The planets FINALLY aligned today for me. Instead of taking my work truck home tonight, I randomly decided to take the MM. Once on the highway, I saw lights coming up fairly fast behind me, in and out of traffic. It was a Mercedes Benz SLR convertible with the plate "07 SLR". They come with 615 hp and do a 1/4 in 11.4, and cost about 450k!!!!.....then behind him, there was a black SRT-8 Charger. YES!!!!!
I slipped into the fast lane and out of my daydreaming mode, to let them catch up to my rear bumper. Thought I'd let them see the Marauder rear cover, and waited for a bit of open space. Then I nailed the pedal and let the Trilogy do the talking! JERRY, I LOVE YOU!!:D
Again, my iPod had some divine intervention, and the song "You've Got Another Thing Coming" came on. SWEEEET!
I then pulled into the slow lane to let them by, and they hung off my rear bumper for a looky-loo, then went blazing by. I pulled in behind, and the fun began. We drove in a loose formation for some time until just before the highway split into 3 lanes, and right by a closed highway truck weigh scale. The Benz took the fast lane, and the SRT took the slow lane. I was not about to be left behind, so I detoured through the closed scale road to grab the third lane that started right after the scale. We were side by side with the two of them staring at me, and the SLR spooled up. Since I use this scale to check loads sometimes, I was ready for the gentle truck speed bump. WHEEE! As expected, the SLR took the lead. The gap between the SLR and my MM was the same size as the gap between my MM and the SRT-8 behind me. I was exctatic!
We kept things sane due to light traffic, and the SLR guy slowed down for us. He let us pull even (and had the top down) to yell "You were in the AIR after that speed bump...I saw it in my mirror! You're nuts!!!:D":banana2:
I took the next exit which leads to my house, as I didn't want to push my luck by continuing on with these 2 guys. The stock brakes make me a tad nervous, as even the stock pads are still in. (I'm only at 20k miles)
Thankfully, all my EVOC time in the "lesser" Panthers prepared me, and there was no drama with the gentle speed "slope". But what I wouldn't give for a photo of that!
Hmmmm.....a guerilla photo shoot for next year's MM calendar using that idea....;)
PS-- Yes, the scale was W-I-D-E open with no vehicles anywhere on the whole site. And I still can't wipe the friggin' grin off my face!!!:D
EDIT: Photos of an SLR...what a beast!
