Last Thurs, 95 S from Boston onto 295 ..Find myself behind a quite new, angry sounding mustang GT. Definately not stock exhaust..Don't know about the rest. License plate frame says "Nitrous Express"

we go slowly in traffic around the exit and out onto 295, there are half a dozen cars the in right lane right ahead of us, and the rest is pretty well open. He pulls over to the far left lane and I follow suit. Both of us go WOT ..was about a 20-25 mph rolling start. The marauder feels heavy..that mustang is pulling HARD..the cars that were in line over two lanes to the right of us must have been somewhat horrified as the sound must have been ungodly. He shifts and I go through a big white cloud ...(I thought it was oil or something..but it just smelled acrid..am guessing it is the NO2? perhaps the cylinder tops on fire?..no experience with that stuff )..but I gain a little on his shift...his next shift..same thing...big white cloud and a little gain.. He has put about 5 -6 car lengths ahead but thats it.. he is not getting any smaller...another white cloud and ...the two cars just stay ....by now I am well into third and winding up strong..another white cloud and he is backing off..traffic ahead..so I slow down to my nice comfortable 78mph commuting speed.

he won, no question....but I console myself in that he looked a little sad....
and that stuff is sort of cheating ..isn't it?? (but that thing PULLED!!)

Based on your description of the white smoke and the smell, I suspect that he popped a head gasket, a not uncommon little problem.
