I got the idea from http://www.spdkilz.com/techtipairbag.html (Good website ;) ) And decided to try it for my self. Took about 15 minutes, and now my sun visors look much cleaner!

First off, you will need a hair dryer, Duct tape, Goof off (ive heard goo gone works also) a rag (paper towel works to) and pliers are optional.
http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e185/offroadkarter/Airbag%20Sticker%20Removal/IMG_0384.jpg

Next you need to put the hair dryer on low but max heat ( I tried it on high, it will hurt your fingers) and point it at the corner you want to peel off. Bottom left worked best for me. Keep it there for 20 seconds, or until it gets soft, then start to pick at it until the corner peels off. Then pull it diagonally up. Use the Goof Off on a towel (soak well!) and rub the WHOLE sticker with good force, dont worry about getting it on the visor, beecause you will need to later anyways. The Goof off will help to break up the glue and make the sticker come off easier and leave less residue.

Next, you need to get atleast one side unstuck. I got the left side of the passenger sticker unstuck first, and peeled that all the way across. If yours is giving you trouble, resoak with goof off and rub again. My sticker came off intact and left little glue behind. heres what it looked like after

http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e185/offroadkarter/Airbag%20Sticker%20Removal/IMG_0378.jpg

Now in comes more goof off and the duct tape! Soak the rag/towel with goof off (it dries quick, so be generous) and rub the residue left, and rub good. It should wipe away. There might be some white left that rolled off the spot where the sticker was, so take the duct tape, roll up a small piece and blot any white you see, and it will pull it off.

Dont believe me? See for yourself! :D

Now, you will most likely be left with a "rectangle" or some wrinkles, but you can fix this to! I took the hair dryer again, put it on high/high and rubbed it across the wrinkles. Basically ironing them out, and thus, all smooth :)

Now just do the exact same for the drivers side (did pass first). My passenger side came out easier as i didn't try to lean across the console and do it. My drivers side airbag sticker tore alittle bit, but i fixed it by pulling on the top corner (bottom was up) and then holding both and pulling across. After that, no problemo!

Here's the stickers, the left is the drivers side, right is the passengers side.

And the end result on the drivers side!

And there you go, 15 minutes later you dont have those "AIRBAGS CAUSE DEATH TO SMALL CHILDREN" stickers, and your visors look MUCH better!

Now i have peace of mind :)

Nice refresher post.

We discussed this back in 2003 but apparently cameras were an unknown piece of equipment 'back-in-the-day'.:P

Nice write up...needs sticky'd.

You lucky, we had the english ones you removed and twice as big and just as yellow, French ones too.

I just put two black socks on my visors. One each the toes cut out.

Looks odd but the visor looks black through and through.

Hair dryer you say, sound like an idea.

I don't have a hair dryer though, maybe i can borrow one.

You can do it with just the Goof off (Or goo gone, ive heard that works as well but dont get it on any interior bits) and rub alot and peel. Im sure a heat gun would work as well but just dont hold it on near as long.

I've always wondered if you can get sued for removing factory warning labels.

I highly doubt it, sides if its that big of an ordeal i have them sitting on my desk, nothing 3 seconds of electrical tape cant fix :P

If they are so important, they wouldn't be "stickers" that are removable, they'd be permanently etched in:lol:

Plus, the owners manual has the same "DEATH CAN OCCUR" messages, ive read that, im aware of the fact that i drive a time bomb, with clean sun visors :cool4:

I haven't heard about anyone else having any problems or after effects with removing these.

good write up with good info. thanks

I wanted to attempt a good write up on something lol.

BTW: Key point here, if you use goof off, leave ALL the windows down and CRANK THE BLOWER UP! Blow out the smell as it is fumey. I did for a minute and now you cant smell any goof off.

Actually, I first came up with this method (removal of the visor sticker)--oh 4 or 5 years ago and posted it---but somehow it can't be found---but just the same--this newer post of the details are even better....and yeah--it really works--just like he says --from the get-go....carry on.....

The NTSB has determined that those yellow stickers actually PREVENT accidents. It seems that as long as you're TOLD it's dangerous, you'll drive in a much safer manner. You'd better put them back on your sunvisors before you have a horrific wreck.

No, really...this works...the same way putting "Caution: Contents May Be Hot" on the side of a coffee cup actually prevents you from spilling it. It's amasing...

I'm 6 foot 9 and would love to take the whole damned visor right out. Anyone tried that yet? :thinker:

I love the twin visor. That said it should just unbolt or slide off...

You'd have to either tuck em away or loose em.
