Thinking about it....

I called the Greek God today to see if he can find a place for us too meet up. I want to bring the Fairlane up Saturday afternoon.

I might make this if we have a place to land.

My house is at 419 Mae-Thy S.E., off the 3100 block of Madison Avenue (28th street is 2800 South), which is centrally located. My cell # is 616-666-0908. You can park a truck & trailer (or your car) at my house or in the street. There is also off-street parking at my mother's house, one block over, at 550 Van Allen S.E. We are 1/3 mile South of 28th street. These are "safe" neighborhoods.

A good (& popular) meeting place would be at the Hertz car rental, 555 28th Street S.E., or the Checkers Drive In (next door) @ 461 28th Street S.E., both 1/3 mile North of my house. 555 is the address of the former Duthler Ford. This is between the 3rd (Madison Ave.) & 4th (Eastern Ave.) traffic lights East of the US 131 freeway.

If we wanted to, we could have a BBQ/cook-out at my mother's house.

Curses on all internet map services (and/or this website that won't let me paste maps?):

From The Grand Rapids Street Racers website (for 100 Octane Un-leaded @ $6.49/gallon):

Hometown Sunoco
7061 S. Division
Open Daily 5:30 am to 10:00pm
Phone (616) 455-6552

In the Location on Division Ave. Since the late 1940's. Joe Niewick and Sons Joe Jr. and Tom started a used car lot, selling contemperary autos and Antique cars. Affiliations with Ford Motor Company has been a enterprizing endeavor for the Niewick family

In the mid to late sixties,Tom hooked up with Ford and Raced for the factory in super stock and F/X classes into 1970. A terrific accident ended Toms Drag Racing career and soon he was involved with local oval track racing

Throughout the years, Tom raised a family, continued his used car lot, added an appraisal company and other auto related activities on the south Division
property.
Hometown Sunoco was a dream of Toms for years and finally a reality! A spacious building with an expansive filling area, Sunoco gas, ranging from regular unleaded to 110 octane, Hometown is definately a one shop fueling station!

What a treat when you pay for your fuel inside! With a full line of automotive products for your needs, this is complemented by snacks and soda, candy and tobacco products. Once you find your needs take a peak at the extensive variety of collectibles ranging from automobilia to dolls for the girls! If you have the time, check out the walls inside and go back in time with pictures and event memorabilia from local tracks and people. Don't forget to look up when you enter the building, as you can't miss the vintage Airstream travel trailer hanging from the wall, supported by 100+ year old beams from the old county building!

Family owned and operated, there is always a warm welcome and a smile when you visit! Take an extra minute and enjoy all that Hometown Sunoco has to offer! Conveniently located just south of 68th. St. on The west side of South Division in Cutlerville.

The aforementioned Sunoco station is about 5 miles south of 28th Street (68th Street is an exit off US 131, and Division Ave. is 3/4 mile East)

Is "The Grand Rapids Street Racers" about the most stupid name they could have chosen? Oh no, my friends!...They could have chosen "Flaming Fag Baby Rapers", or the "Crack-Head Red Light Runners". How about "The Revoked License Drunk Drivers Club"?

Anyway, at last year's Cruise, the GRSR had control of an event area (the large lot across from Roger's Plaza, a main promotion location for The Cruise). They got blindsided around 10:30 PM on Saturday night by a large contingent of local, county, and state police telling them (and everyone else) to "get lost" by 11 PM or get ticketed/towed/arrested/beaten and/or have their rectum assaulted with a toilet plunger (in your jail cell).

NO ONE had any idea they were shutting things down that early (or at all), and The GRSR's were thoroughly P.O'd. They vowed to not help with The Cruise next (this) year. The promotion this year says "All vehicles to be removed from event areas by 9:45 PM".

Here is the GRSR web link. Check it out...Jim Lombardo owns Joes Pizza, and many local gear-heads (mostly GM) frequent the place. He is having a big party there Friday night:

I offer our house at 550 Van Allen Street S.E. as a meeting place/hospitality house/rest room for all early arrivals on Saturday. Again, my cell # is 616-666-0908. I grew up in the neighborhood, and know "GR" very well. If you have any questions, I will get an answer for you (if I don't know it myself).

From US 131 exit 81, take 28th Street East (one mile) to Madison Avenue, then South (a right turn). Van Allen is the 3rd street on your left, 1/3 mile from 28th Street. Go East to 550 (house is on the right).

From Interstate 96 exit 43, take 28th street West (6 miles) to Madison Avenue, then South (a left turn). Van Allen is the 3rd street on your left, 1/3 mile from 28th Street. Go East to 550 (house is on the right).

Dale I will be at your house around noon unless its raining. I would still come up if you guys just want to get together for some quality time together. No T Bolt in the rain as its not safe and takes to long to clean up afterwords. Tried that once when I left it outside and then we got 5 inches of rain. What a mess!

kirk

Same here. I'll try and be there around noon if it's not raining.

Dale we should be able to pool up and make a food run when we get there. The weather may be a problem. I am bringing Gordy with me. He likes Chevys so we need to convert him. Ask him about driving the T Bolt!

Are you towing the Fairlane?

I have 7 pounds (28-1/4 pound links) of the finest Italian sausage to grill over charcoal, with smoke. Bring your own beverage of choice.

Supposed to get showers, but scattered. It will not rain everywhere, or much.

Chevy fans, being wanna-be like everyone else, get me a Camaro, are incorrigible and cannot be redeemed. Simply not worth the effort. Leave conversions to a higher power. If it was meant to be, it will happen, without man's intervention.

Think of the type of person that would take a '32 Ford, install a small block Chevy, and use the valve covers that make it look like a Flathead Ford V8 (yes, such valve covers actually do exist!). Now, what could you possibly say to such a person? No reason to waste your breath, right?.
