I am looking to puchase a car buffer, like a porter cable model 7424. It can be a kit or just the buffer alone. Anyone know where is the best place to buy it? I found a starter kit on ebay (item # 300249524908) for $181 shipped, it included

Kit includes:
Porter Cable 7424 Machine Buffer
2 Gray 5.5” Pad (for applying wax or sealants)
2 White 5.5” Pads (light cutting for working pre-wax cleaners)
1 DA 5” Flex Backing Plate
2 Microfiber Polishing Bonnets

It this a good deal or look elsewhere?
Is this a good buffer or any better ones out there arnd the same price range?
Thanks Mike

You can get a better deal, the 7336 and 7424 are the same, one comes with two attachments and the other doesnt. I have the 7336 and its great. I use it all of the time. You can get one for about 130 bucks and if you shop around, you can find them as low as 109. Good Luck, Richy

Buy the pads separately from a detailer online, you will get a nice deal there as well.

Did you ever find a Marauder?

personally, if you are a novice... i recommend a random orbital. it is hard to eff up paint with one of those.

bijon, the porter cable IS a random orbital. The porter cable will be okay for swirls and mild scratches but if you have lots of deeper stuff, a rotary is the only way to generate enough speed and heat to burnish the paint down. I have a rotary and a porter cable, and the PC only gets used for the final finessing. It's not even aggressive enough w/ swirl removers after buffing on a hard paint. It would be impossible for someone to damage fully cured paint w/ the porter cable units. The action is just not aggressive enough.
