A friend of mine has been bugging me for a year to put nitrous on my car. I keep saying no it's going to break something, but he thinks an 80 or 100 shot would be ok. I'm sure it might have been okay on a stock engine, but I think a stock engine with a blower with nitrous is asking for major problems. I'm still against it, but I want to know from you guys... would the car be able to handle it? :confused:

1 Word....
KABOOOOOM!!!!
A guy tried that a year ago with a 2V GT. S-trim with 12lbs and a 100 shot. 2 of the hypercraptastic pistons shattered like glass from detonation. Save your coin and just buy a stroker shortblock if you want more torque.

I don't want it at all, I just want to know if it can handle it.

Tell your Friend???? to put the NOS on his vehicle (if he has one). Or tell him to give you about 8 grand to pay for the engine and install when it breaks and you will do as he asks. :shake:

^^^what they said^^^
Your "friend" apparently doesn't know much about engines. He *might* be right if you didn't have the Procharger...

Clearly not enough timing was pulled if detonation was the cause. Take it over to Finish Line Performance in Naperville and have Dan Bills tune it for nitrous. He will set you up if it is doable.

Hey John, don't give out all your secrets. Spray is bad......:rolleyes:....bada$$ that is.
If you are tuned for it, it's the cheapest way to get extra power. But you DO have to know what you're doing. :burnout:
It's also natures way of weeding out the weak ones.

Nope I really don't want to do it. If the engine was built I guess I might try, but it's 100% stock and I love the car so I'm not risking it. I do like the idea that if it breaks I get a new engine out of it since it is my buddys idea.
He has nitrous on his Chevy Tahoe that is a 100 shot. I think it's stupid because it's just on there for burnout purposes.

If you wanna spray it with something to gain a few more ponies, spray it with meth. And it's STILL all in the tune!!!!

Hyper's can make power its just the slightest bit of detonation and you have metal that looks like glass all over inside the engine.

Dom;
With 50K+ miles on Silverback, DR installed a NOVI NIC supercharger kit and kept my nitrous system but jetted it down to a 40 shot. Makes 439 HP at the wheels and runs great. It's all in the tune. The small shot nitrous actually cools the intake charge precluding detonation.
A 100 shot may be a bit much for stock motor internals.
