While preparing for an 'Elliot Pool Shoot' I noticed the sky was very...cumulus-e.:P

Is that the right word for these?

Anyway...cool colors and cloud formations.

(Notice the dirt on my my sensor or mirror. I need to clean her up soon.)

50/50 Barry.

Half of that is high Cirrus - above 25,000ft

The other is jet con-trails. (condensation trails)

Marc is right...when the jet stream isn't very strong, or when the upper level winds are light...you'll get tons of lingering contrails.

Other times the jet is so strong, (150kts+) you won't see anything.

Your cloud photos inspired me to do something today that I haven't done for a long time.....lay on the grass looking up at the sky. ( I happened to be at the park with Buddy and there were some huge clouds overhead. )Beautiful to watch and so relaxing that I could easily have fallen asleep. Thanks for reminding me to take the time for something so enjoyable. :)

Welcome to my world, ye who are earthbound. I have enjoyed over 22,000 hours in this world. There is no place on Earth that you can see so many wonders as you can see from up there. My only regret is that I did not get to see our Mother Earth from outer space--that must be awesome. I've only been to 45,000 feet, so there should be some of you who have been higher in more recent aircraft. I cannot think of a single flight that I did not see something new and beautiful--there is no way to describe it. I often sit and visualize the many things I have seen--unbelievable sunrises and sunsets, majestic thunderstorms reaching altitudes over 60,000 feet, awesome displays of electrical energy in a line of severe t-storms, the Northern Lights from 30,000 feet over Norway, the unconceivable sight of Greenland spread out against a blue ocean and sky---I could go on forever. My piloting days are over, but I'll never forget the joys I have experienced up there among the clouds. God's Beauty in Everywhere. Feeling very content right now, Maury
