First off i'm not even going to pretend that i'm a pro. Infact i've only propeled my car down the 1/4 8 times, 6 N/A - 2 Trilogy and all have been quite equal in tire spin. On all occasions i've had new or next to new stock tires. Now i realise that drag radials or slicks is obviously the way to go but heres my problem, No matter how i launch it just sits there and spins-let off hit it again, spins-repeat 4-8 more times before she decides to go. My first time out i tried to use the t/c ha what a joke, next i give it about 1000 rpms - same, just gas it - same, roll into it better but still like being on ice. So what gives when i'm on the street it will smoke um for 20-60 feet but meanwhile doing nothing but pulling extremely hard and propelling you right to the speed limit. I thought that the track prep would help you launch no matter the tire, but for me it is more like trying to drag with a travel trailer behind me. Guess its time to brake down and buy some drag radials. So what am i doing wrong? By the way i still toasted the charger r/t with him leaving me 3 cars at the start and me taking him by one!

Perhaps a little more practice is due?
Are you warming up those tires....I mean really warming them up?
I would run 13.2 to 13.6 na on street tires and high 11's on street tires.
I have yet to use my slicks and average 12 flat every run with a little launch control, hot tires, and basic suspension mods.

Hi JustBob.
I to have a Trilogy I have regular street radials 'Riken Raptors' Stock size and pulled off an unassuming 13.3@103 mph. I have seen faster times with the same setup. My guess you are hammering the throttle to hard, I take off very easy feeling for any tire slippage as I go and gradually get into the throttle harder the faster I go. Of course I used to drag race a 10.68 sec 63 sport fury as well as my 13.00 mustang. it just takes practice, practice, practice. And you have to learn how to 'feel' your launches. Good luck and keep us posted.
