if not that what would it usaly cause the car to do
with out being connected to any thing, or does it not

My Marauder has the dampners on each muffler, but I can't remeber seeing any hose that goes to them.???? There is a parking brake cable that lives near them though.

Ok... like this is funny!
You're just trying to be funny, right?
There is no way you're serious, is there? It makes no sense to have a RUBBER hose attached to an exhaust ( exhaust pipes get HOT, remember HOT? Mom must have told you "Don't touch that, Dear..... it's HOT." ).

You're just trying to be like Motorhead350 aren't you? Be honest.

They are exhaust HANGERS, rubber INSULATORS, the metal "tube" on the stock mufflers are welded on to HANG the muffler on the frame of the car. They also help to reduce vibration and noise from the system. They last because they are further away from the exhaust.
If YOU had really changed the mufflers ( not an exhaust shop) as you said above, you would have needed to unhook them and you'd have gained knowledge.

I hate when people don't get an IMMEDIATE answer to their questions and start whining like a rejected schoolgirl.

Your picture looks like a piece of metal, not rubber; which would make that a hanger, possibly held up to vehicle with a piece of rubber. I no longer have my stock exhaust, so I can't look at mine.

That is clearly the hose for greasing the new upgraded muffler bearings that Ford installed. I believe Marine #17 grease is the appropriate application for his region of the country.

I see two things in that muffler pic that could qualify as a "hose"
First is the fuel line connected to the fuel filter.
Then there is the brake cable connected to the brake.

Then I think I can see the blank stare coming off your face.
Take another toke and pass it on down the line... you're done.

As I was reading through this thread, I was going to do the muffler bearing thing, but rayjay beat me to it!
Seriously, though. I don't have the factory exhaust so I can't go look at mine. I'd still like to see a good picture of what you are talking about if you can post one. I'm curious. The point about hot mufflers and rubber is a good point, but if we can see a good picture maybe we can figure out what it is. Most hangars I've seen don't look too much like a hose (not that I've seen that many...).

Yep, thats the muffler hanger post, a rubber hanger slips over the end and keeps the muffler supported and eliminates vibration.

One good thing this thread brought out, for me, is what the vibration dampeners look like. My muffler installer neglected to save and reinstall them when he changed the stock ones for flowmaster 40's. Now I have a very annoying drone.

(See offroadkarter's post with picture, black cylinder object attacted to muffler clamp)

They would not stop your drone with the flowmasters. You might try extending your tips a little further past the bumper.
