So there i was, driving down I-69, minding my own business, when out of the corner of my eye, i catch a black streak slowing wayy down because there is a car next to me. I am not unused to this because i drive a CVPI and people are always stomping the brakes in hopes of not getting a ticket, but this guy comes over into my lane (im doing about 80 in a 70) and starts tailgating me whilst looking for an opening big enough to fit his little Cooper (mabye a Cooper-S, couldnt tell from the front) through. Rather than him having to wait, i shut off the A/C, turn off the O/D, and punch it. He sees the big vic settle at the rear and he too punchs it... i think, lol. He kept up til around 90 and then i walked him all the way to 120, where i merged into the right lane. I slowed so he could pass me, and as he went by i gave him a thumbs up for keeping up, and the prick turned his head and wouldn't even look at me. Needless to say, if i hadn't been at my exit with my gf in the car complaining about needing to stop and eat, i would have proceeded to blow the doors off that little cooper. Its one thing to be beat and accept it, but this guy was a total ass. Grr.. and that is why i hate people, lol

Not looking on the drive-by is a common Marauder thing... something about them blown away by a 2-ton 4-door sedan...........:D

I know the S's run 16.0 stock so it would have been a good run you had. Most of those people who drive those cars are snobs and have some money to play with, but their not the best nut in the apple. ;)

lol, its nice to finally beat up on the 4-bangers! I got fed up with them after racing my friend in his 07 Civic Si. Those are fast SOB's... but i guess i just gotta pick my prey carefully :)

I am assuming the A/C does rob the car of power!

Get a s/c and leave the air on. No sense in breaking a sweat teaching them a lesson.

haha, yes. if i am cruising in my car and turn the AC on, you can feel the draw on the car. But i am wondering if some U/D pulleys may fix that. And as awesome as it would be to be S/C, i think a 4v swap would precede that, and i am but a broke college student :)

All actual CVPIs will disengage the a/c at WOT automatically. No knob twisting neccessary.

For some reason the Mini Cooper Guys in general think their better than us. At The Tower Shops Car show we go too every Friday nite they use to be their. They always seamed to have a chip on their shoulders like they were better than everyone else. They were the only group who tryed to give us and others a hard time, they no longer go their because they got kicked out by the owner. I'm not saying they all are like that but every one that we have meet down here so far is.

lol, cobra they seem to be the same up here, and taemian, as for the auto-disengage AC, thats awesome! I dont know why they think they're so much better, they ARE driving a mini-cooper ;-)

But i am wondering if some U/D pulleys may fix that. Yes. Underdrive pulleys are a good bang-for-the-buck mod on the 2V motor as well.

I had a run in with a cooper s and I didnt loose...but I didnt win either....we stayed the same distance apart the whole run....I was a little behind cause he got the jump on me but no one gained and no one walked....

Writers note: I was not in the Marauder....I was in my 2001 Taurus SES

Mini Cooper people and Corvette people...think they are "better than the rest
of us" so be forewarned. My neighbor has a Mini Cooper-S
(Supercharged with a chip) with about 220 ponies, and it can fly,
but he also knows better than to mess with "BIG..BLACK and BLOWN!"

Gotta Love It!:burnout:

P.S. The new Mini's now come TurboCharged!

I have been watching this thread in total amazement, and think it's about time I chimed in.

Before owning my MM, I was a proud owner of a very fun, and somewhat quick car that took the corners like a go-cart. It was, in fact the go-cart that I never got when I was a kid.

I drove it for about a year and a half, meeting up with lots of other owners who were very friendly and just wanted to have fun with their cars, much like we do with our Marauders.

Yep, it was a red MINI Cooper S, with white racing stripes and a black and white checkered roof. My wife (note, I'm not gay) and I had a blast driving it. It was, and still probably is today, a very unique vehicle. It served its purpose for me, until I found out that I could get into a Marauder without paying full sticker price.

I had looked at the Marauder prior to the MINI, but couldn't see buying one for almost $36K. When I finally found out that I could get an employee discount, in addition to a Ford discount at the time, I sat down and talked to a salesperson. What really made the deal was how much they were willing to give me for the MINI on a trade. It held it's value better than any car I have ever owned.

Anyhow, it's an amazing little car. If you've never driven one and pushed it to it's limits, I can understand you not allowing it any respect. I can promise you that all MINI owners are neither snobs nor gay. Some might very well be, but I wouldn't classify any vehicle with those labels.

I think the snob is the guy who is constantly posting about his each and every victory out on the streets and highways, then whining because he didn't get the respect he demands, or making excuses for why he lost.

I admire those of you who do it the right way . . . at the track. I love listening to those "kills".

If it wasn't turbo, then it wasn't worth racing. The S/C'd ones are slow. My friend has an '07 with the new designed turbo, that thing moves. Pretty funny when some of the "older" guys just judge people from the cars they drive. My friend is nothing like that, he purely bought the car for fun and enjoyment, and that it's something different and you don't see everyday. So, if you're stock, and come across an '07+ Mini S, be prepared to be beaten by a "gay."

Yes, the newer ones are quicker. I had the S/C'd version, but it would still chirp the tires much better in the 1 - 2 shift than my Marauder when it was stock.

I guess the bottom line is that people can be snobs and gays, but cars are just cars.

P.S. The older "classic" Coopers (1960's) are Mini's. The newer BMW built cars are MINI's. I just hope that doesn't make me a "snob" for pointing that out.

lol, guys, i wasn't planning on racing in the first place, but i was..... goaded into it, lol. Im not trying to rag on drivers of any particular cars (mostly because crown vics are commonly associated with people over 60...) but im assuming it was the S/C version because it kept up with the CVPI pretty good. i dunno what the powerband on those is but i guess he may have just run out of pedal. Ive heard they can hit like 137 stock in the "S" trim

Oh I'm sure they are a blast and I ran into one guy who had one that used to eat at my dads restaurant all the time, he was cool, but we always wanted to bust my chops and I did right back at him... he's a cool guy.

I still would love to push a Mini to the max!

well on paper you are looking at 2300lbs vs 3800lbs weight to start of with. the supercharged cooper you are looking at 168hp from the cooper and about 250hp from your car with your mods (rough approximation) so he actually has you slightly beat in that category. being a smaler car with a powerfull engine for it's size along with being a BMW product which makes it really torquey powerplant, explains why he was keeping up with you and actually i am almost suprised he didnt take you.

haha, i dont think ur as suprised as i am. Whilst i love my CVPI to death, i know it is by far not the fastest thing on the road. However, i have gotten a deal on a Yellow Convertable 2003 Mustang GT, only needs a new tranny and has 63,000 miles on it :-)

I used to work with a guy who owned a new MINI and 2 old mini's. He was a tool. Everything else on the road sucked except for his cars. All he talked about was his MINI and Mini's. Super Tool.

I love my MM. But this guy was "My MINI this" and "My Mini that." I Love my MM but I also understand that there are better cars out there (not many, but yes there are). I have no problem with the guys love for his car, I was just saying aside from that... he was a super tool. You would just have to know him... a few days before I deployed to Iraq he came over to my house and tried to pimp me on some sort of fruit juice he was selling at the time. I obviously had other things to do than listen to his sales pitch about some fruit juice.

By the way, thanks for your service in Iraq. I'm just glad that you are here to discuss this issue with me. I'm not real happy that you guys had to go over there, but I do support what you, and all of our service men have done.

I'm just glad you didn't buy his fruit juice.

nice run, I had one a month so ago try to do the same thing, after letting him go he flipped the bird so I let him keep goin(he was still on it) and than punched it, caught back up no problem and flipped him one back and gave up on showing the boy up after getting to 145(empty interstate, early weekend morn). Used to have to shut the a/c off myself, stock the system shuts off at 98% full throttle, while tuning I took it down to 55% so now I do not have to worry about that :)

Came across a new Mini "S", the other day...

This dude thought he was the *****, in this little thang...

I had no intentions of showing him my tail lights...But he kept pestering me, by constanly cutting in front of me...It was like a fly that keeps flying around your face...after a while you just swat it...

Well that's what happened...

I swated that little thang like he was standing still...

It was not even worth mentioning it at the time...BORING!!!

What do they get MPG wise, something like 35 highway and 27 city? So you get a cool little car with lot's of power for it's size, handles like a go kart instead of driving one of those other ****ty econoboxes that get the same or a little better gas mileage? What's not to like?
