Here's a listing from Sept's issue of the DuPont Registry showing a '99 Crown Vic modified by Roush ( 1 of 18)which eventually lead to the making of our Marauders, just curious if anyone knew such a car existed.

Looks like the roush boys actually put some time into these. I have to wonder if everyone is different?

I'm pretty sure the BlackHawk was a 2001 model. And it had different rims and different front bumper.

That is one of the crown vics that were built for use at the Bob Bondurant driving school in arizona. I have seen a few of these for sale in the last year.

The Marauder concept was first shown at the '98 Detroit Auto Show so the '99 or newer CV conversions came after the fact.

I saw one of these Bondurant Vics at Carlisle this year in the for sale section...or the "Corral" as I think it was called. The owner was there pushing the car, for a not insignificant amount of money. The custom roll cage and Halon fire suppression system were trick, but the car was not worth the money IMHO. It would definitely make a good training vehicle for a police academy, though few could actually afford one.

Yes there was an internal squable between Ford divison and the L&M division on weather to go with the CV "Blackhawk" or Marauder?

Since Ford was committed to "jump starting" L&M sales the Marauder was given the nod in early January '02 to go on sale as an '03 in June of '02.
The first of Mercury's brands to state with the letter "M"
The rest is history....................

Side note Marauder was in development for almost 4 (?) years before the final push.

Steve B. told us at MV-I some interesting details on the whole story:)

The Blackhawk and Baunderant "Cobra Vic" are totaly different cars as Joe pointed out with the Blackhawk being only a concept car.The Roush Vic`s had different front fascias and spoilers and they were all set up the same.I was lucky enough to get one of only six front fascias Roush put up for sale thanks to Jersey Vic back in the day.I wish I still had that car. http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/files/2/4/0/1908822_4.jpg http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/files/2/4/0/1908822_25.jpg

Cobra Vic's and the marauder program have NO relation to each other, roush built 18 racing crown victoria's with 99 32V V8's for the Bourdanant (spelt wrong) racing school.

2 different cars from 2 different groups.

I remember reading the article in Car & Driver on the BlackHawk vs Marauder concepts in '99 (i think). It said the BlackHawk was to have a SC 4.6 and the Marauder was to get the 5.4..... I have a few choise words for the guy who axed those initial ideals....

Elena ford, i'd put my money on. She was the one who said a superhcarged marauder would "distract the customers in the showroom, and take away from the other vehicles mercury was offering. Mercury was heading in a new direction" which we now know is for female drivers!!!

The car on Ebay is not street legal and comes only with a bill of sale, no title. Lots of luck for those of you with emission inspections/testing.
