Hi,

I don't have a MM yet but am a big fan. Some day I hope to get one. For now I am getting by with a GM.

I have a question regarding the AC/Heater controls. Is it normal for the contorls to become VERY hot after the car has run for approx. 20 minutes when the unit is off? This started about 2 weeks ago.

Also, does your brake pedal make a noise when pressed? I was told this was the brake light activating. Is there any way to stop it? I realize this is a small thing but it's annoying to hear EVERY time I step on the brakes.

The dealer was of absolutely no help for either of these questions.

Thank you again for your assistance!

Thanks.

I drove some other 2008 GMs today and their interior lights don't get nearly as hot.

I do like the new 17 in tires on the GMs. Kinda makes them look like MM wanna bees. :)

Is it possible to get the unit to cool by having additional insulation placed behind the dashboard?

I have no experience with the HVAC controls getting hot, it does not sound normal though. Might be a crossed wire or some such thing causing heat. I would defintely have a private mechanic check that out.

As for the brake pedal noise, could it be the locking mechanism on the shifter. My Subaru used to click away every time I touched the brake pedal. Solution was to turn the cd player volume up. Brake lights should not make noise.

Thanks. I had 2 different private mechanics check it out and both say it's a problem. One mechanic measured the HVAC controls approx. 50 degres hotter than the rest of the dashboard. I don't think that's normal. Both mechanics referred me back to the dealer since it's still under warranty, bumper to bumper no less. Is it time to start bringing it to different dealers until it's fixed?

That's a bummer with the brakes. Since it's mechanical, can't a mechanic use WD40 or something similar in order to stop the moving parts from making the noise? The car is just so quiet that when nothing is on and I'm in traffic all I hear is that "click."

Thanks agian for everyone's help. I really appreciate it.
