Has anyone used the Nitto 420s in size 235/55/18 for the front of there MM?
They are only lised on the Nitto website but can be obtained through Discount tire.
I was quoted $158.00 ea. when I was buying my 255/55/18"s for the rear and was pondering using them but wanted to know if anyone else has tried them first.

I never used them on the front due to fear of rubbing. Plus I dont think it would look good having such a big tire on the front. That price is a little high, I have seen them for $115-$125

While recently researching options for the stock front-widened rear wheel combination, I came across a few SUV performance tire options that would include 235/55R18's in the front. I was hesistant to recommend trying them as I didn't know whether there was enough clearance for the extra ~1" and since it may add more sidewall flex than desired in the front. Post up and let us know the results if you decide to go for it.

I'm running them on the rear, and I would personally stay away from running them on the front if you like solid grip in the twisties. In my experience, the 420s have very little lateral traction and cause me to randomly fishtail during very tight fast turns. I like that on my rear and in my Dukes of Hazzard re-enactments, but when taking a 10-15 degree banked turn on a country road or freeway interchange, I wouldn't want the 420s leading the way. Just my $.02...

Anybody try the Toyo Proxes out back in the 305/45/18? They're actually cheaper than the 295s, and look like a good tire spec-wise.

This thread is about the Nitto 420S. You might want to create a new thread in the Tires & Wheels section to ask about the Toyos. A while back I talked to a Florida owner who was running Proxes on a widened rim.

I meant the lower prices for the 235/55/18 420s Nitto,
you said that you had seen them for $115.00 to $125.00.
Where pray tell?

I never shopped for the 235/55/18. I have my local tire connections that get the rears much cheaper then that anyways.
