Getting tinted this week...

Called the local Ziebart and set up an appointment to have the Marauder tinted with 22% film this coming Thursday.

Just wondering how many other people on here are running with darkened windows, and what percentage VLT you chose.

IMHO the black 'Rauders look awesome with dark windows, as it complements the other accent features nicely.

I actually had a local ziebart do mine, I went with 30 on the sides and 22 on the back window, I think I should have gotten 22% all around but eh.. And the guy did an average job, nothing special, minor minute bubbles still there...

Def does improve the look though, check it out

BTW, I think I may be blacking out the chrome trim around the windows and make it look meaner.

Got 15% all the way around and love it. Still has good night visibility and great during the day light.

35% is the limit in MA and since the windows already have tint, you can't put on 35%. A local shop told me 49% would work.

I think it was when he flashed the cop, with his
hie beams made, the cop a lil suspicouis,
as 20% is what I plane to do as long if you aint,
doing nothing stupid to catch the cops att,

Fully aware :D I'm prepared to deal with the consequences.

In the daytime, there's a HUGE difference between 22% and Adam's 3.3%. My Lincoln is around 25% and during the day you can see right through it if you look through glass and not at the black interior. On the contrary, another friend/Mark VIII owner has nearly 0% VLT which cannot be seen through without light inside the car - he has a waiver, though still has to deal with the hassle of getting pulled over on a regular basis.

The privacy of dark tint is nice, for myself, passengers, and my belongings. It keeps the car cooler which helps when I'm driving with my dog, since the windows need to be down. Dark tint on the front side windows helps cut down on glare from headlights in the side mirrors, which benefits me greatly as 60% or more of the driving I do is at night.

I'll take some before and after pics - should come out nicely.

Since its 115+ for a few motnhs here the fuzz lets people get away with dark windows, other wise you literally could not sit on your black leather seats with shorts on. They, of course, will use it as a pre-text to see if anything else illegal is going on. I run 15 all around and its DARK, when leaving parking lots and high pedestrian areas I roll them half way so I can see properly.

The few times I've been pulled over for tint in my Lincoln, none of the officers actually had their tint meters - it was only something to get me off the road to check everything else out. As someone else said above the dark tint is sometimes indicative of other illegal actitivites, and once you're on the side of the road the dark windows give probable cause. The discussions I've had with the troopers I know indicate that only a few of them actually test the tint - and there is widespread misinterpretation of the tint laws. Some believe the fine is $250 per window, while others write it up as a flat fee - though most (as I mentioned above) use it as something to get a car off the road and check what else is going on inside.

Good call on rolling down the windows to check for pedestrians, especially the child-size variety. Just not within 48 hours of getting the tint done :D

They make 39% and 40% depending on the company, which will be pretty much as dark as you can get that will still measure within the allowable error of 35% net. I had 35% film and it measured 28% net when I got pulled over.

Bought my car in Arizona and I guess the dealership there just tints the windows of all the cars. Don't know what percentage, but the back windows cant be seen into and the front can be, just looks darker. I am in CA which pretty much makes everything that is fun for your car illegal, so I assume that I will get pulled over at some point, still a lot of other cars with darker tint all around then me.

Do yourself a favor and don't tint any darker the allowed by state law. You'll fail inspection if they check the tint.

Funny, I am getting mine dont now....8% in the rear and 28% in the front with 98% uva proitection. Hope it works out well!

here in el paso its hot so the police even have super dark tint on their cv's not all but a good portion do. and your right black leather when its 105 regularly is not good for your "boys"

Dont have to drive with my windows down at night, but do it anyway, because it looks cool. I Live in southeast New Mexico where it has been in the 100's for the past 2 weeks. :sunshine: :sweat: (I really need to go back to Washington)
