Why are my tires cracked?

I've had the front tires crack on my before, but never a set of racing tires. My BFG Drag Radials tires are one year old and I didn't notice a crack in them until today. I drove them in the rain yesterday... ya smart I know... :mad: and most of the time they stay in the garage all winter and all summer. They only go on the car when I am about to race and I usually take them off when I am done. These past two weeks I have left them on the car in a garage, but hardly drove the car, I didn't use it for a full week at one point.

Did they suddenly get old or what? The cracks aren't too bad, but it looks like I will have to play it safe and replace them if I make it down to the shootout this fall.

Check the "born on date" on the sidewalls.
Who knows how long they sat in the warehouse!

I forgot to tell you when you were at the house Dominick, because I noticed that.

The tire is way too small for the size of the car and power.
You need to get rid of them NOW before you hurt yourself or others.

Should I get Nittos? I really do not feel like getting my rims widened.

I will say I've never been impressed with the "life" of BFG tires. My dad had to change the BFG's on his truck not because of being worn but because they dry rotted like crazy!!!

The BFG's that were on the front of my car when I bought it are the same way.

Their rubber sure dosn't last long.
