Linda and I are here! Had to dodge a lot of flooded roads near Chaicago. There are a few closed roads here in St. Louis also but should not be to big of a problem. Drive safe!

weather is perfect, still too cool and humid this early to wipe down the cars, but that isnt stopping us from trying...
We had a slow paced day at the Transportation museum today. It was fun looking at the trains and history here. They also have a building with some pretty cool cars. They have Bobby Darrins car here which is painted red with a red finish that has ground diamonds it it. It took 4 years to build it! Hope someone can put some pictures up of it. They also have a Chrysler Turbine car here. It has under gone a very extensive restoration. It took 6 years to redo the wiring and get the turbine working again. Westinghouse did some very extensive work on the turbine as it had some damage. All of the labor was donated on the rebuild. The wiring was chewed up by mice and they had to make a new wiring harness foe the entire car. They were very lucky on the damaged wire as the mice did not harm the interior or trim panels of the car. The interior is still original and in great shape. A few parts were missing on the exterior of the car but people stepped up to reprodue the hand buile parts for them at no charge. The car idles at 22,000 rpm and was not real loud.
We were vbery lucky to be at the museum as they took the car out to take it to the Chrsler drag racing event that is being held here this weekend. They brought the car out and parked it with the Marauders so we could look it over. Its a very cool piece of history and we received a lesson on the car and why they built them. I asked if I could go for a ride in it and was told they could not give rides. When they were done talking about the car I asked again and said OK. The Marauder people laughed when he opened the door for me, made me take my wallet out of the back pocket so I did not damage the seat. I was told to set in the seat very slow so I did not damage the material. He just took me a few hundered feet to the trailer.
The car moved differant than the cars we are used to driving. The power was very smooth and it was quiet in the car. Very cool to do this and something I will always remember! I am sure someone will post a picture on this soon.
