Who has R & R their own engine?

It was brought to my attention that I maybe able to start a new Sub club within our membership. A lot of us have done extensive work to our Marauders, but I was curious who here has removed and reinstalled their own engines? I whole heartedly acknowledge that John Nero and Gregg Ash. were instrumental in helping me removing my engine and even Gregg helped drop the engine back down onto the frame. But other than that I had to bolt the engine back in and reinstall all the accessories. Shades of the good Ole days swapping engines in the street, back in New York.

So he who has accomplished this, step up and take your credit where credit is due, because it ain't as easy as you might think, but then again it ain't rocket science.

Here I go:
I pulled the 5.0 out of a 1987 LSC that was rotted on the roof and rear window. I put that into a 1989 Mustang GT convertible that I bought without the motor. After that got tired, I installed another 5.0 into it.

I picked up a 1992 GMLSHPP and installed a 4.6 CVPI engine.

I almost bought a 96 TC and installed another 4.6 but passed on it for now. (I believe the vehicle is still available for really cheap $$$ as is the engine.)

I still have thoughts and dreams of dropping a 5.4 3V with the F150 Trilogy kit into either a 03-04 w/cable throttle or 05 and up CVPI with DBW.

Further divisiveness... eh?
The "we can's" vs the "you can'ts".
Oh when oh when will we stop trying to label each other!!!!:D

Had mine in and out of the MM several times. Did my own turbo install. Swapped heads. Swapped them back. Stripped a block down to ground zero. (still haven't put it back together though)
Other then help with actually lifting the motor out and moving it to an engine stand, it was all by myself in my driveway.

Well I recently did all the work on my Marauder to pull the engine and rebuild it to the 5.0 stroker set up it picked out. I did have help from my brother and some help from Curt & Chris on the forum. Yes its a ton of work, and I did it on jack stands, no lift here. It was helpful to have the extra hands when taking the engine in and out because of all the crap in the way. My cherry picker was just bearly long enough to reach in there but we did it. The engine was not hard to figure out for building, just pay attention to all details and it will be fine.

I do all my own work anyway and my Fairlane stroker is still runing sweet. I run the he!! out of that car too. I love power!!!!!!!!:D

Anyone can do the rebuild if you have some mechanical ablility, the right tools help, a few friends and a frig with lots O BEER!

Think of it this way, You'll know know who to go to, when you want to know what to expect when needed. Like knowing which side of the wire harness the EGR tube is on makes a big difference in doing it right or tearing it up, when pulling the engine.

I'll leave the MM to my fellow techs at work until the extended coverage expires.

A 350 chevy in my old cabin cruizer, had to build a scaffold and use a electric winch and clear the pan over seven feet in the air:eek: to pull the boat and trailer out from under it.

Many 2nd gen camaro's and trans ams (probably atleast 10)

1) nissan sentra
2) Dodge ramcharger
3) 2 monte carlo's
4) late sixties dodge wagon 440
5) VW superbeetle
Countless bikes, snowmobiles, quads,

Never a Marauder and hopefully it stays that way! And never did a total rebuild myself just everything else.

Don't get me started on trannys.

A couple of 194 straight sixes in box Nova's (right now I'm building a very mild 283 for a friends '64 Nova wagon)
A Dodge 2.2L Turbo, 273, a bunch of 340's, a 440, and helped with the REAL Hemi 426
3.8 Ford in a fox body, and a bunch of 5.0's also in fox bodies
Swapped a long block 5.0 in a friends Bronco, and completely rebuilt the 5.8 in my '85 Bronco and put Holley pro-jection on it.
Haven't done a 4.6 yet though

I haven't built trannies or rears :dunno:,
Lots of suspension and brake work, electrical, interior work, even painted a couple cars way back in the lacquer days.

I have done some rears. I can take them apart but will need to be taught how to set it right. Maybe that will happen whenever the 4.10s go in.

I have pulled, rebuilt and installed a 5.0 in a Fox, but not in a Rauder yet. Someday she may get built, but I was thinking about buying a second block and built it up slowly. However, they seem to be expensive when you find them.

I have swapped gearsets and bearings, but don't have the tools to set up the ring and pinion.
I've replaced at least a dozen traction lock clutches in 5.0's back in the early 90's, very easy to replace on the ground.
