This may be a tuff fix,
When I bought my Marauder earlier this year, I had the dealer order me a new housing for the fake oil pressure gauge, volts, and cigarette lighter, due to some peeling. My problem is that the adhesive on the top of the housing between the rubber and plastic has decided to start dripping down from underneath the rubber, on to my gauges!!
Yes it is a OEM part that was delivered from Michigan to the dealer from Ford, so I can't blame a half ass aftermarket company for this one.
The thing is I had the same problem (once again) in my 04 Marauder, but never fixed it, so I'm going to assume it may have happen to other members here. Any idea how to remove it without damaging the brand new housing?
Thanks.
weird, I haven't noticed any adhesive on the gauge pod when I did my real oil pressure install . . .

Very common problem.

Pull the pod and remove the rubber strip......I used "Goof Off" to remove the glue from both the pod and rubber strip (I don't see why they used the glue in the first place)!!!!:mad2:
Re-install the clean rubber strip on the clean pod....problem solved!!
Perhaps you can find another solvent but the Goof Off worked for me and did not harm the paint on the pod!!:D
Good Luck!!

Wow, I'm confused. I don't think I have any rubber, or adhesive in my '03. Just a housing that holds the gauges and lighter which snaps in and out. I turn the key on put the gearshift to the rear and pull out and up on both sides of the the cluster pod to remove it.
I installed a real OP guage and matching voltage, then a trans temp with bezel where the lighter was, and moved the lighter to the side.

As Tom Doan said, this is a common problem. I used isopropyl alcohol and a Q-tip to clean the "gauge goo". Goo-Gone works, too.

Thanks guys,
I have some goof off I'll try today. I was nervous about using it because I thought it would rip that weak paint on that housing off, but since Marauderjack used it I'll give it a shot.

Mine has "gooey gauge". It's even noted on my OASIS. The glue they used seriously looks like permatex #2.

I rubbed my goo off with a finger.

I got mine off with a straight screwdriver , penetrating oil and a paper towel.
took about 15 minutes.
That there, is some stickey stuff.
Fingies^^ work good too,as you work it back and forth it finally gives up! I used the screwdriver , cause the seam is difficult to get into .
Looks great but that oil stinks.

If anyone needs these items resprayed, you can pick up a can of the proper color from Ford/Lincoln/Mercury for the pods and panels, then follow my post on how to strip these items down and respray them. It takes about an hour or two to make these things look like new.. You can them put the top strip back on without any adhesive besides the residue already on it and it will stay put and not drip again..
