I noticed 3 days ago that my passenger fog light was not working. Long story short, it ends up it just fell out of the housing and was just lying in the wheel well/bumper area. So I got my hand in there to lock it back in the housing, worked for about a day and fell back out.

My question is, how exactly does the fog bulb lock in the housing. I am just sticking it back in and turning but Im obviously doing something wrong.

All I can tell you is to be careful and don't use the Fog lights until the issue is resolved.

I read about a bulb that became loose for a member here and it ended up resting on the side of the front bumper cover. The bulb got so hot that it burned a hole through his bumper cover.

You should probably remove the fog light to see why the bulb doesn't lock in. There are 4 screws that hold the light in the frame.

Yeah, and I ended up fixing that hole by feeding to front bumper to the rear end of an Explorer. ;) I would not recommend my methods to other members however.

Ok, how do I remove those four screws to see what the problem is? I hope the answer isn't through the velcro piece I removed to get my hand in there.

Luckily, I noticed the fog light not working in my garage so I didn't have it on long at all while it was resting in the bumper. I haven't used them at all since I found this problem.

Thanks Guys.

Just for future reference,

The piece of plastic you lock the bulb itself into on the fog light housing came loose. It is on there very half a$$ from the factory to begin with. Took housing off, glued the plastic piece you lock bulb into onto the housing, put back together, all better.

This may help someone else one day.
