Hey guys i am looking to switch my OEM brake pads to Ceramic Pads. I heard from a Ford Brake Technician that they wear on your rotors twice as hard as OEM pads. I am doing this to reduce the brake dust and the hear and there squeaking. Can those who know anything help? Thanks

Go for it, it's the only way to keep the rims clean, but don't cheap out on your selection, because you get what you pay for. There are multiple levels of ceramics to choose from.

I went with these from Pep Boys, but I think Hawk has better stopping power:

ProStop Ceramic Brake Pads

Quiet-Eliminates brake squeal
Clean-Less black dust on the wheels
Long Lasting-Premium materials for long life
100% shimmed, slotted and chamfered for noise reduction
Gridlok‚ technology assures a maximum-strength bond between the friction material and the steel backing plate

Don't get me wrong, these are great for dust free rims, but I'm reseaching Hawks for more breaking power with low dust.

I like the Bendix CT3 line of ceramic pads but have heard great things about the Wagner brand of pads. Check out Wes at Innovative Interceptors E-Mail: Wes@innovativeinterceptors.com (Wes@innovativeinterceptors.co m). I believe he is a dealer for Wagner products. I will probably be switching to them next time my pads need changing.
I also have Cryo treated slotted and cross drilled rotors. If you are looking to a complete stock size brake upgrade that is the path I would go. Worked out great for me. There are a few dealer for the Cryo rotors but I got them locally from a guy here in the Tampa Bay area. He owns a Cryo treating company and offers great prices and will Cryo treat anything you want or supply the rotors. Let me know if you want the info. I only paid a little more than $300 for both the front and rear sets.

Alot of us also use the Napa Ceramic Pads and have no problems. Which one's are better than the other is hard too judge.

I had the hawk pads and yes they where nice but for some odd reason when ever it got above 95 ambient temp they would squeak like a ***** chipmunk. Tried everything that i read to do here and then some nothing worked. I am going to try the napa ones next and see how they are.

Some of the ceramics dust a darker color still. I used Morse ceramic pads and they dusted a light tan color that was very easy to clean off.

Who is your question directed towards?

Personally... I prefer the Napa Ceramix pads with the cheapest rotor available.

Let the $100 Pads eat them up. Better to replace a $20 Rotor, than a $100 set of Pads.

That is JMO.....

This is the guy I get the Cryo treated rotors from they are Slotted and Cross drilled for around $300 + S&H. I'm local so I just pick up from him. It takes about 2-3 weeks since he does not readily stock parts. He got burnt on a bunch of orders that were placed after his S2000 was in a import mag and was stuck holding a ton of stock that people didn't pay for. We might be able to look into a group buy if enough people are wanting to upgrade but can't afford the big brake kits. The more orders at once and the less cryo runs he has to do. I would have to check with him to see if he could provide a price break. He's a small business so I'm unsure what his mark up is and what he could do to get a better deal.
Jeff is a great guy and a honest business man (I know it seems improbable these day but he is a throw back).
