Hey dere, ya'll!

Me and Mrs. CH made it back to Greenville okay, but had a close call on gas this afternoon. Planned on filling up around Asheville, NC, but the gas stations we stopped at were either (a) out of gas entirely, or (b) had regular only. Ended up finding a station with 93 octane on the far west side of Hendersonville, and by then, I was running on fumes.

$4.599 per gal, and $75 for the fill up.:shake: On the bright side, I averaged 21.9 mpg up and back, running 70-75 most of the time.

Did anyone else encounter shortages/outages?

I let the car get low on fuel this weekend, I also left my bilfold at work.
I asked the fueling station MGR if she would take my CC # over the phone, from my wife.
I was on fumes and desperate, so she obliged to help.
I pumped 18+ gallons on 317 miles , no shortages so far around here.

Yeah, I wanted to stop for sliders in the worst way on the way out yesterday, but couldn't get mama to agree.

Closest thing we've got to White Castle down here is Krystal, but it just ain't the same. (Well, the gas part is, but other than that......;)

I paid $4.32 a gallon in Libertyville for 93 octane Shell on the way back from the show at Bradley's Sunday night. That's a suburb a good 30 miles north of Chicago and in a county with way lower gas taxes. I try to avoid filling up in Chicago unless I absolutely have to,gas can be as much as $.30 to $.50 per gallon more in the city.
We've got some outrageous taxes, cigarettes are almost $9.00 a pack in gas stations in Chicago for Camel unfiltereds, where I got gas Sunday the guy told me a carton was $49 with tax. Chicago and Cook County have each tacked on a $1 per pack tax in the past few years and Chicago has a stupid high gas tax.
If you're gonna pass thru Chicago gas up in Indiana or a suburb outside of the city so you can save yourself enough for a bunch of sliders at the Porcelain Palace.

Here in Iowa I filled up today for $3.74 for 93. No shortages:( Why are we running out of gas now? Do we need to start stocking up on gas?

I believe it has to do with where your gas is refined. All our gas here comes out of Montreal, QE, no shortages there. In fact the "new" Sunoco, was Mobil until Sunday, just lowered their price. I had the DTR out on a beautiful evening run for dinner and paid $3.89 for 93 there. Quite a suprise as it never had come below $4 until now.

I filled up at a Flying J in Carlisle PA, and I got about 70 miles less on that tank, all highway. Then FastMerc and I had to fill up with Valero on the Ohio Turnpike and got even worse mpg. We made to to Carlisle (330 miles) on one tank with gallons to spare.

Second time i actually filled the tank this year. $4.15 for 93 at shell. Prices have been going down quite a bit here and conjestion at the pump proves it. Just about every gas station had all pumps going with a few cars waiting the last couple days.

Glad to hear my Marauder isn't the only one that doesn't like Valero.

I live just North of Atlanta and the fuel shortage was from hurricane Ike seems that we get our gas right from Huston Tx and the line was shut down for a week .everyone was topping off at the first sign of a gas truck. We have been having some great weather and wanted to take blue out for a run but could get the gas I needed for 3 weeks all they had was reg . it reminded me of being 10 yrs old in the back of moms Buick during the fuel shortage in 79. all is good as of today a few stations without but most of the big stations have it.

hear in houston it was about a week before you could find gas without a line for an hour. luckily when the danger ranger ran low, it gave me a reason to drive the rauder around. worst case scenario i'd have to bust out the arkansas gas card and take some out of the ranchero

93 octane is about $3.38 a gallon here in central Texas. I've seen reports that it is under $3.00 in Tennessee and Kansas.

Cheap stuff has hit $2.94 around her, and it's about time. It is too bad that this is now considered CHEAP!

My guess is, Cheap stuff will level off at about $2.50/gallon.

:(

PS - No shortages here in Central Ohio.

Just filled up with 93 Sunoco at $3.299. Also filled the wife's Freestyle with 87 Sunoco for $2.999. :D The difference used to be 20 cents. Now it is 30 cents. Bet they didn't think that I'd notice. ;)
