So after working on my dads Roush, Jason (2,4shofast) and I were BSing and took the silver car out for a joy ride. Came back and parked it. While we're talking it makes this loud ass *PING*. I can even hear it inside my house for about 10 minutes when I get home. Bout every 2 minutes it'll do it. My other MM didn't do this. He goes "holy crap...you got delete tips". I'm thinkin no way I got the car from a 1 owner old man. We grab a flash light and sure as hell this man knows his exhaust noises... I have megs delete tips.

I KNEW this car sounded just a hair meaner than my last one. I couldn't quite pit my finger on it but now I know I'm not nuts!!

I'm all about finding something GOOD on a car I bought!

I also got the new speaker grills and infinities installed in the rear deck today too. I took lots of pics and will post em tomorrow. The sound quality gives me ear gasms.

My 04 DTR does the ping thing and has since new.

Every now and then after shut off, my MM sounds like a clam closing up. And that's under the hood, too.

Was it raining at the time? Mine pings when I rinse it off when exhaust is hot.

Yep mine will make the sound also, its just everything cooling down. I've even heard it make faint noises 1-2 hrs later. Does it a lot in my shop where I have it on climate control. Going from hot summer temps to 70 degrees at a snap of the fingers.

Yupper. My tips ping for a long time after shut down. Can hear it accross a parking lot, although my ears are tuned to it. It's kinda nice, lets you know she still cares, even when you're not around....

All 5 of my Marauders made the noise, none of them had delete tips.

Oh, it's the tips. Very distinct sound. Like pinging the rim of fine crystal.

Try to flick one of the stainless tips. Bet you get the same sound. The other pipes are thicker and more 'connected', which would offer more of a click or clunk...

And people have the nerve to pick on Motorhead350 for irrelevant rants.....

Is there a HP gain for properly tuned tips?

I've only had mine 10 months, 12,xxx miles, and have never heard it do it, but have heard other internal combustion engine exhaust systems do it, including my riding lawnmower.

I think the resonators were just put in to try and quiet the car down just a hair more.

Mine did it prior to delete tips also. I know for sure it's not the mufflers, because I'm not a believer of those things. :)

Tips? I'd be shocked if I gained 10RWHP by changing the mufflers on my forced inducted Marauder. Did this guy also say he changed out the summer A/C and blinker fluid?

It is for sure pinging at the tips...we know because our heads were checkin out the tips when it pop'd again:) Matt this must be why your car has so much more HP than mine did stock:flamer: ha ha

Who knows what other gems you might find! If he did the tips, what other things might he have done. Do you think it might have a tune? Congrats.

hmmm mine never did it before my motor swap, now it does. dealer said it was coolant dropping onto the motor, so i got a free water pump but it still pings lol

muffler bearings...... check!
and headlight halogen fluid was topped off.....check!

Definatly didn't have a tune. I threw the DR one on and the car ran like a rocket. Stock it would barly bark the tires.

It was funny as hell, Jason and I had our heads under her ass and *PING!* it scared the **** outa me.
