I spent today Saturday removing the window tint of the marauder to get ready for NJ MV inspection later this week.
I have a pair of tail lights standing by because they did not like the black paint on them?
Days like this I really miss PA.

The day a crappy governor doesnt get elected into office, the sun MIGHT shine on our state.

Is this something new? It doesn't sound very cost effective to have to remove it once a year for state inspection.

You could always find a small garage that does inpection and just pay them the fee.
That's what I did 'cause I knew I probably wouldn't pass with my previous Procharger set up and custom dual exhaust with 2 less cats.
I'm good for 2 more years! :banana2:

You guys actually have to get your cars inspected by the state? What exactly are they looking for? Make sure its all legal? Im sorry but Ive never heard such a thing, guess Im still wet behind the ears! Here in Illinois we have emissions tests and truck inspections, but not cars. Learn something new everyday.

Its a BS safety inspection to make sure your vehicle is road worthy. Its basically another way for the state to make money. They check all the lights, wipers, seatbelts, airbags, tires, brakes, leaks, excessive smoke, electrical, glass, mirrors, check engine lights, and emissions. The cars newer then 1996 get a plug put into the OBDII port and it scans the computer for past codes or current issues thats after they do a full check of the other items. The older cars have to put on a dyno with a probe in the exhaust to test emissions under a load. If you fail, you dont get issued another sticker and you will get tickets when parked. If you go too long you wont be able to produce a current inspection sticker number when you go to re-regisiter your car.

well MA is not too friendly for car inspections, whatever, the MM takes it with stride, although im a little loud in the exhaust department, but they passed me last time with limo tint all around just cause they liked it so much lmao.... but if they get caught doin it, they are fined $1000 and lose thier inspection license

here in MO we have yearly/bi-yearly inspections, horn lights etc. in california it was only smog (only smog?$150 a pop lol) but they need a safety inspection there. inspections do seem to weed out really screwed up cars.
my 35% tint was just fine here,

I kind of like the principle behind yearly inspections. Keeps freaks in dangerous crap off the roads. I've driven through some of your states (and a couple of our own Provinces, in fact) and have seen some deadly crap rolling down the road.
The downside is that its a blank cheque for the shops and they can lie, cheat, whatever. I've had some pretty brutal arguments with guys who thought they were dealing with an idiot. If it happens again, I call the cops and tell them to order the mechanic to turn my car back over to me.
One guy had the car on the lift and was coming onto the wheel so hard that the steering wheel was turning. He tried telling me the ball joint was bad. Yeah, and I was born that morning. Idiots.

In theory, this ^^^^ is how it is supposed to work. We have an annual safety inspection requirement in Virginia. Emissions every two years in the more heavily populated areas. However, it is really amazing how some of these cars get trashed in just one year (ie. busted windshields, no bumpers, inoperable lights, broken taillights, dangling exhaust, mucho body damage, etc.)
New Jersey sucks?? Isn't that redundant? Sorry BDJ. Actually, I lived in South Jersey from 1980-1983 and kinda liked it. :D

Inspection = Revenue. Its all about the money for the socialist state.

I don't think so .... what they charge in Virginia for the inspection barely covers the labor/time it takes to do a decent inspection. If Virginia is getting anything .... it ain't much.

I wasn't initially going to add any opinion to this thread as I had no particular opinion for NJ other than my few visits to Newark and the on going rip of the region as being the car jack capitol of the States.
However....since last Thursday when that NJ driver stopped dead in the slow lane on a narrow highway causing a multiple vehicle (including myself) accident / injury....
I don't particulary care for NJ drivers at this point.

You can go to the State (free) or private ($80.) NOw the State has put pressure on the private grages by passing a law stating if they stop a car with tint then check the grage that passed it the will suspend the inspection license for two week while they review it, they have the garage pay a $200. fee to get reinstated? SO you now see if you had a "buddy" that would pass your car now they can not afford to get caught.
Inspection is every 2 years in New Jersey.

In Pa. they are required to pull one front and one rear on differant sides and inspect the brakes! + emissions for a fee of $$80.00 a;; private, required every year.
In New Jersey every two years at a State run place it is free. peivate is $80.00
